Tottenham expert Alasdair Gold has provided a positive update on Richarlison’s injury.
Tottenham’s attacking prowess took a hit as Brazilian striker Richarlison got sidelined due to a knee injury sustained in during the defeat against Wolves.
His absence comes at a crucial juncture for Spurs, as the striker was in sensational form before his injury, scoring an impressive 9 goals in his last 10 appearances in the Premier League.
Manager Ange Postecoglou initially confirmed in a pre-match press conference that Richarlison would be out of action for 3 to 4 weeks.
However, the 26-year-old striker offered a glimmer of hope to Spurs fans by indicating in an interview with ESPN Brazil that he is expected back in training and could potentially be available for the upcoming fixture against Aston Villa.
Amid the conflicting reports, Gold has come and suggested that Richarlison’s return could indeed be sooner than initially anticipated.
Gold highlighted observations of the striker engaging in individual training sessions, indicating that his injury may not be as severe as first thought.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold said:
“I must admit there was a while where I was a bit wary of going too strong on Richarlison’s injured when we started to hear. I knew he was injured, but I didn’t think it was that bad because I was told that on either Thursday or Friday that he was seen doing running at Hotspur Way. Which yeah, if your knee’s awful, you probably don’t put too much pressure on it.
“The fact that he was doing some individual work showed that maybe it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. But then Postecoglou said three to four weeks.”
Despite Richarlison’s absence, Spurs have demonstrated their attacking depth, with forwards Timo Werner and Heung-min Son stepping up to secure victory in the recent London derby against Crystal Palace.
As Tottenham navigate through their injury woes, the potential return of Richarlison would undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the squad, reaffirming their ambitions for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
