“I am very happy” – Rodrigo Bentancur discusses his first few months at Tottenham

The last time that FIFA international window was open, Tottenham Hotspur made a deal to acquire Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus while the 24-year-old was playing for Uruguay.

Spurs paid €19-million (£15.8-million) + €6-million in performance-based add-ons to land the Uruguayan to help improve their midfield, which needed reinforcement.

Bentancur has had a couple of months adapting and getting accustomed to the Premier League and his new teammates at Spurs.

In an interview with ESPN Argentina, he spoke about his relationship with manager Antonio Conte and how he’s feeling switching leagues, going from Serie A to the Premier League.

“It’s the best league right now. I am very happy to play at Tottenham in that league and to be taking advantage of this opportunity,” Bentancur said.

The midfielder added that playing in the Premier League will help him improve as a player and continued by sharing his thoughts on seeing Harry Kane week-in and week-out during training sessions and fixtures.

“[Playing in the Premier League] is going to help me a lot to continue improving,” Bentancur said. “Technically and physically [Kane] is an incredible player, very complete; it is an honor and a pleasure to have him as a colleague.”

Bentancur is a pillar for Spurs as they revamped their squad and midfield as they hope to be contending for the league and trophies.
