‘How that is acceptable’ – talkSPORT pundits talk Tottenham going trophyless for another season

Tottenham Hotspur won’t be winning a trophy this season after crashing out in the FA Cup, losing in extra time to Middlesbrough. Spurs are way out of the Premier League race, so their sole focus will be to finish in the top-four.

Nonetheless, during a segment on talkSPORT, Sports Bar host Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara spoke about the north London club’s failure to win a trophy, even having a term for when Tottenham fumbles their opportunity to get some silverware.

“It’s just so heavily ingrained in Spurs now. It’s not just Spurs fans having a rib; it is a thing. ‘Spursy’ is a thing,” Sports Bar host Jason Cundy said. “Maybe you’re infected. Maybe you can’t rid it; you’ve got it forever!”

Despite having Antonio Conte as their manager, it wasn’t enough for Spurs to end their trophy drought, which goes back over a decade in 2008. Jamie O’Hara was part of the squad that won the EFL Cup, and he hilariously detailed the many milestones he’s achieved in his life since Spurs last won a trophy.

“I was in the squad in 2008. 2008!” O’Hara said. “I’ve been married, divorced, had four kids, retired from football, been on Celebrity Big Brother, got a new career, a new partner, and I’m still sat here talking about Spurs NOT winning a trophy. Tell me how that is acceptable for a top-six club.”

Conte will remain in charge, and his task heading into next season will be to build a squad that can win a trophy and end the club’s drought.
