This past week, Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their attack with the arrival of Richarlison from Everton. Following the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski, the north London club has improved their attack, but they might not stop there as Jesse Lingard is another name in the mix.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham has joined the likes of West Ham and Newcastle in eyeing Lingard, who is a free agent after his contract with Manchester United expired.
One of the reasons that Spurs would be keen on adding Lingard is because they’re eager to add another home-grown player into their squad ahead of the new season.
Furthermore, it would allow manager Antonio Conte to have a rotation of attackers that would include Richarlison, Kulusevski, Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, and possibly Lingard.
With Conte and the club wanting a deep run in the UEFA Champions League and challenging for domestic trophies next season, they’ll need a deep rotation to allow them to compete in all the competitions.
How will Spurs fans react to this suggestion? Lingard’s stock is undoubtedly at an all-time low; it was against West Ham United on September 19 when Lingard last scored, netting in a 2-1 win. The Warrington-born boy was being afforded fewer and fewer minutes at Old Trafford, and now they’ve let him go. It’s a polite, ‘no thanks’ from me…
