“He’s wasted 2-3 years of his life” – Pundit states Dele Alli needs to get back to focusing on football

The January window opens in a few days, which could see the end of Dele Alli’s time with Tottenham Hotspur. The midfielder is reportedly on the block for a departure, with Newcastle United being a possible destination.

During a segment on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan believes Alli heading to Newcastle would benefit all parties involved. Tottenham needs to proceed with its project under manager Antonio Conte and the 25-year-old needs a clean slate somewhere else.

“He’s a Newcastle signing for me,” Jordan said. “He’s a Newcastle January on loan signing. If you’re Dele Alli, you’ll have delusions of grandeur, but you’ll believe the memo that you’ve sent yourself because you’re probably president of your own fan club.”

Alli had a brief moment under former manager Nuno Espírito Santo, where it appeared as though he had found his past form, but it disappeared. Nonetheless, a possible move from north London is what Alli desperately needs, conveying that the player has squandered the last 2-3 years of his life.

“Maybe he can stop advertising clothes and get into the business of football and be good at what he was brought into Tottenham to do,” Jordan said. “He’s wasted 2-3 years of his life. Look at the player who played at the 2018 World Cup and all that went with that and where he is now, earnt all by himself.”

It will be interesting to see if it’s Newcastle or another Premier League club that decides to roll the dice on Alli or if perhaps there’s interest abroad. Paris Saint-Germain took an interest in the player in the past, but no move ever occurred.
