‘He’s the one that’s vulnerable’: Tottenham urged to upgrade on 26-year-old weak-link

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has had a difficult season so far.

The Brazilian international has struggled to score goals consistently and he has just two goals across all competitions. Spurs need to add more quality to their attacking unit and it remains to be seen whether they decide to sign a quality striker in January.

The 26-year-old joined from Everton in a deal worth around £60 million but he has not been able to live up to the expectations. He has scored five goals in total since joining the club.

Tony Cascarino has now revealed on talkSPORT that the Brazilian is the only weak link at the club and Spurs should look to bring in an upgrade if they want to win the league title.

“I think they can be (in the title race) if they can hang in there until Christmas and then make a signing that adds even more to their forward line. I think it’s inevitable. Unless Richarlison finds a period to his game that’s much improved and takes him to a different level. He’s the one that’s vulnerable in that forward line where you’re thinking there has to be more from him,” Cascarino said.

Spurs are on top of the league table right now and Cascarino believes that they might be able to push for the title if they can stay in the race until Christmas.

They sold Harry Kane at the start of the season and they have been overly reliant on Son Heung-min for goals. The South Korean clearly needs more help in the attack and Spurs should look to sign a striker in January if they are serious about pushing for the title.

Richarlison has the quality to be a useful player for Spurs but he is lacking in form and confidence right now. The Londoners cannot rely on him to lead a title charge. Taking him out of the firing line and letting him regain his sharpness without putting him under too much pressure would be ideal.
