Here’s Spurs XI vs Fulham (Dele Alli Starts)

By The Boy -

Fulham host Tottingham Hotspur in match-day 33 of the Premier League on Thursday 4th March, 6:00 pm at Craven Cottage. The hosts currently sit in 18th place in the table having drawn against Crystal Palace 0-0 last time out, while the visitors are in 8th after their 4-0 win against Burnley.

This game is all about showing everyone that Spurs are capable of turning it on against your ‘bang average’ Premier League side. I’d love to win the Europa League, but putting recent wins against extremely poor opposition simply does not cut it when it comes to credible form. Fulham are doing their very best and have been at least looking as if they deserve more. Two consecutive clean sheets at Craven Cottage is promising for the ‘Cottagers’ (W1, D1), but the problems are at the other end of the pitch where Fulham has scored a league-low average of just 0.62 goals per Premier League home match.

Can’t argue with the fact Son has been a bit off-colour recently (as has Kane – especially with his finishing, but his passing is still very good), but I thought that everything dangerous in the first half yesterday went through him.

The header you’re referring to was at an angle and from a cross where he had to generate all the power himself – Son is not a great header of the ball, unsurprisingly – given his height and style of play -, but I think even Kane would have struggled to put that one away (as the one he fluffed was far easier). I don’t remember the other chance he should have scored.

And if you don’t think that Son made the goal and then proceed to say Bale made the goal with an interception… I just disagree with that line of thinking, but you do you.

Overall the performance was quite poor (decent 1st half, horrible 2nd), not least from our forwards / creative players. Bale and Kane were both wasteful and Ndom disappeared in the second half, and I would argue that they deserve more scrutiny than Son.

Sorry, I’m just cynical about the people that run the club and to win the league just seems like an impossible goal with these jokers running things…

For whatever reason, it must be awful to win the League in the first place if you don’t defend it well. I’ll take a scrappy win at Craven Cottage and mid table all day long! 😂

What’s clear is that Sissy and Winks are toast now, hopefully Skippy and one other new signing in the middle of the park next season. Who that other player is will be a huge call – we could have a very decent midfield if we get it right there.

VAR? It’s just a new sort of refereeing controversy

it stops absolute howlers but creates these ridiculous close call freeze frames

no fans and half the goals being disallowed from marginal calls has taken away a bit of spontaneity but then you get a life saver VAR call like the City Sterling goal and you do a little prayer to say thank you 🙏

One small incident in the second half sums up for me the utter dullness of some of our players.
For some reason, Sanchez had got the ball and was running with it quite well up the right wing. He got into the Fulham half , there was no Fulham player in front of him for at least 10 yards, so he chose to back heel it without looking. The ball went straight to the Fulham player behind him. What was he thinking??? Why would you do that? Do they not know that you should keep the ball as a number one priority??

The pass to Kane was great (which Kane totally messed up), but Son has been off it for a while. Bale made the goal with an interception and pass to Dele and Dele then put Son in to a 1v1 situation. To suggest Son made the goal is too simplistic. Son should have scored 2, nearly isn’t good enough (he mistimed the header off Dele something rotten) and he wasted too much of the ball. If you are happy with Son’s performance against a Championship level team, so be it. I hold our best players to higher standards. We were terrible in the second half and ok in the first, but nothing more.

centimeter offsides, arm is offside, eyebrow is offside, balls hair is offside, handballs with arms next to the body, handballs when arm was shot from 1 meter, unpunished diving, overprotected goalkeepers, checking every single goal for a half of minute, supersentivity of players, supersensitivity of some referees.. I mean, why should i pay to watch it? Why should i buy a ticket and travel half a europe for spurs game as i used to? Why should i pay for membership every year when the game is spoiled? I wont. Am I really the only one?

He’s spent his career in league 1 and the championship. Did ok in a Wolves side with momentum in a system that was working but it’s no surprise he’s not good enough. I said it in August. We were supposed to be moving stadium to go “next level”…..Doherty ain’t it. In fact it’s a level down.

How can people like you think about it like this? Dont see the bigger picture? Its not about luck, its not about tottenham, its about the game as a whole. I stopped celebrating goals as i used to! Now i just wait for a minute until they measure centimeters on the screen, then they allow it, i do a little yeey and a little clap. I am literally losing my passion for football

Essentially playing with 9 men. They offer little defensively and even less in attack.

I never expected this, but these days, I’m actually looking forward to seeing Aurier’s name on the team sheet.

Rubbish, they scraped a 1-0 and Sheffield Utd were 1-0 with an OG against Wolves the other night. yes it ended 4-1 but it all came in the last 10. We can beat hem if we go in believing we can.

Aurier is marginally better than Doherty, Reggie is a whole class above Davies. We’re a better team with them.

Win ugly … 4 points off 4th as it stands.

Yes, there’s negatives about that performance. But we won, 3 points. Palace on Sunday. Hopefully a better performance, more importantly 3 more points.

Remember this, Man City dont hold onto bad performances they take the positive of the win.. and take that into the next game.

I don’t understand the second half dropoff, but we got away with it this time. When we’re doing well, we need to put 2-3 past the opposition (we had the chances for that today) and then the sailing is much smoother.

Fulham are not a bad team – I remember Pool escaping the Cottage with a point due to a dubious “Salah Special” peno, so getting a win there is pretty good.

Hopefully Palace will be more of a Burnley performance!

legoverlass

Shocking second-half performance. the impact of having Davies and Docherty on either flank cannot be underestimated for all the wrong reasons. No forward movement and cannot pass and in Docherty’s case cannot defend. TBH we started slowly and without the intensity we had against Burnley. Credit to Fulham they were the better side with the ball.

Great win tbh, we weren’t great but Fulham are the ultimate banana skin right now and they’re in decent form and might well stay up. Scrapping for their lives, London derby etc etc

Signs of life in this squad, Bale and Dele looked good for 25 minutes and that’s an improvement so take that as it is.
