After a nightmare first-leg at Stamford Bridge a week ago (2-0), Tottenham Hotspur has it all to do in this Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg clash with London rivals Chelsea.
It’d be a spectacular turnaround if they were to book themselves into the show-piece event at Wembley, given that across the history of this competition, only Aston Villa in 1993/94 has reached the final after losing the first-leg by more than a single goal!
Spurs may have failed to score across the last two competitive home head-to-head clashes, but having netted 2+ goals in four straight competitive home matches overall, the hosts might be confident of producing an almighty turnaround.
Whilst all of this should give Thomas Tuchel’s men a huge psychological edge, it’s worth noting that Chelsea has only won one of their last five League Cup-away visits to Tottenham, therefore they shouldn’t be too cocksure in their approach for this semi-final second-leg.
I wasn’t expecting this conversation to be happening here. Macron won’t like it.
Disco Benny was one of the French rebels that was interred too. Bentaleb was actually part of the initial Poch revolution having been given a chance by Sherwood. He did well too. Bentaleb went later when he fell out with Poch after he had recovered from an injury. Poch stopped picking him and then he was sold.
The con continues…….
Had to steal this quote from someone else: ‘Emerson Royal couldnt pass me the salt at a dinner table’…🤣
Bryan Gil wasn’t born when Levy took over, in the whole of the lad’s lifetime Spurs have one minor trophy. Food for thought…
Apart from Romero it’s more ‘jam tomorrow’, which is what happens when you sign players under 22 with no Premiership experience, and then sell them just when they reach their peak. 23 years of this, nothing has changed, regardless of who”s supposedly making the picks. Why we win nothing, it’s boring.
Romero is an excellent signing.. Emerson is a good signing. Gil has potential for sure… Time will tell.
Exactly. I’d be interested to know the identities of the attackers he left out in order to adopt this defensive set up.
Sess was no improvement and we have no better options playing any other formation. Conte is top class but it’s like a Ferrari chassis with a lawnmower engine to run it.
He has been appallingly managed. What business would ruthlessly flog their most valuable asset in this way. Levy is a disgrace on every level.
And also I’m starting to wonder about Conte starting Doherty on the left again and setting up so defensively when we needed attackers on the pitch. If this were Nuno or Jose doing this garbage there would be riots in the street right now.
At this point I feel our only hope is that the bankers at HSBC, BAML and GS are Spurs supporters and put such onerous refinancing terms on the 400B plus term loan coming due in a few months that forces ENIC to sell the team.
No players No Conte ..ManU..what are the odds..Levy doesn’t gives a toss anyhow..15 mil compo up pops Top of the Fops Ryan.
what a pickle.
Nope. Me neither. Never.
I know. Only at Spurs under Levy. It was only outside of Italy, Fabio was getting plaudits because he was the face of what was going on at Juventus.
That sounds somewhat positive. At least we didn’t capitulate completely, eh?
No it means he had to inform Levy that Tanguy is not playing. Further proof Levy hasn’t left the footballing side like he said he would.
I’ve thankfully not had one of the jabs.
Conte looked like he had the right hump in the interview. Interesting answer to why NDombele wasn’t on the bench “I have to follow the club line” – could this mean Tanguy has one foot out the door?
There’s only one Ndombele thank goodness , I refer to Tangy but maybe he should be known as Japh.
Seriously there are far too many players not at the required level, including the new recruits, that is worrying.
….. The lottery shot.
Of course normal teams have 2 decent players for each position, so could we have an attacking RB (Traore) for the defensive small teams, and a defensive RB (Royal) against the big teams? At the moment we haven’t got a single decent player in some positions let alone 2.
I’d keep Gil around for some time and I suspect Sess will stay on as well, since we blew 25M on him and he’s almost always injured.
Tangy (I almost always confuse this with Tanguy) is a weird one. Seemed a decent CB/RB, strong and fast. Now he seems woefully out of his depth.
Lo Celso probably has to go now, I agree.
Nope. He’s not reasonable at all. And is ‘reasonable’ acceptable for a club that aspire/expect to be in the top European competition?
no winsky was never good league one standard
Too early to give up on Gil yet, he’s still only 20, we have academy players on the books older than that who dont even get a game!
best that an be said is that we had enough chances to make a game of it. In the absence of quality you need a bit of luck, and we had neither.
I think you can add Sess, Lo Celso, Gil and Tangy to the list that need moving on after tonight.
Plus the safety data of this vaccine won’t be fully released to the public till 2078. So who knows what the long term effects of this is.
I only remember a relatively thorough clearout early on under Poch, when we got rid of Adebayor, Stambouli, Bentaleb, Capoue, and Kaboul. We probably need something like that or even more.
Apart from the players who are simply not good enough, everyone who views playing for Spurs as an afterthought needs to be shown the door as well.
What Millennials? 😂
100% Manipulator.
I feel for him spending the majority of the game just chasing the ball as the opposition’s defenders pass it amongst themselves.
I’m no fan of the Royal Turkey. I wish we’d kept KWP.
Shame. Was hoping that at least someone would stand up and show they’re better than we thought.
I also feel that even technically superior teams like Chelsea can be got at with the right attitude, drive, and determination, but we seem to lack those entirely.
Oh, that’s fantastic to hear! 😂
And much better.
Just like Baldini when he got the Bale money, not a clue…
Yeah aside from Kane and Lucas the rest need to be got rid of. I wonder what the largest club clear out in football history is? We need a massive enema.
It was Fabio boss Giuseppe Marotta that did all the great work at Juventus. Once he left a couple of years ago and Fabio took over thats when Juventus started going downhill.
Dr Robert Malone who was involved in creating mRNA said the jab is citotoxic. Medical experts have called it an international catastrophe and implored the roll out to be stopped immediately. Too late now of course and non of that will make news.
Nothing a regular like you doesn’t already know 🙂
I do feel for him though having to play three positions each match. He’s our best defender at corners, drops into MF to try to make something happen and then looks to score. But he’s running on fumes.
Was away for the evening, but seeing Gollini on the teamsheet made the eventual outcome clear to me.
I’m not in the mood to pile on this time, so maybe just this – did we learn anything at all from today?
He doesn’t look any of those.
And yet Tomiyasu was cheaper. Go figure.
Another punt in his early 20’s who hasn’t played in the Premiership before. This seems to be the criteria, I don’t care about ‘potential’ in our signings anymore. It never leads to anything, if they do become any good the bald c*nt just cashes in and buys more punts with (some of) the cash.
A never ending cycle of nothingness…
So glad the GAA Allianz football league starts in 2 weeks and the hurling the week after. At least I might see some winning, entertaining games.
A man with no experience of the PL, yet we are allowing to choose suitable players, it’s not looking good so far.
Hugo, Dier, Romero, Traore and Reggie would make us…. erm… “less bad”
If he was a racing Greyhound Levy would be fined.
Those people will be throwing him bananas, he’ll go loopy.
“Right” payment structure
Damiao?
It’s horrible but we are becoming pointless..
Don’t we have Chelsea again in a few weeks….yah..
I think he was brought in because of his price.
Gollini is terrible…
Brooks was here……….so was Conte.
The two legs have again shown the Hotspur Way gang that they could only act as cleaners down in Cobham.
This overreaction re Royal is laughable. He’s a reasonable right back with the potential to improve and at least he gets stuck in looks bothered. Was he brought as a right back, a wing back or a right winger?
At least we made a fist of it for half hour, albeit after Chelsea stopped trying.
Pointless acquisition based on his buys/loans so far. I’m also concerned about bringing in a raft of players from the slower Serie A. We should buy British, for starters we should have gone for Watkins or Ings. They know English football.
I don’t hate the club, just the c*nts that hold a majority shareholding…
Never going to do anything with that line up I’m afraid.
The chat on here at least made it bearable so ta.
Onwards to Sunday…
Fair points, Golini at least i dont think has the commitment to buy, but the Royal deal stinks of brown paper envelopes.
My 7 year old daughter wouldn’t exert herself for this shower of sh1te.
He’s off to Madrid in the summer
Indeed.
As crap as we are, we should’ve scored tonight based on opportunities.
Thats Levy’s strategy.
I love the club but hate the owners with a vengeance. I hope Steptoe never crosses my path one day.
Ghastly perfomance. Game was over at the opening whistle and all our players knew it.
I’m not even in love, I’m simply living with it.
Kane is knackered and out of form…but by FAR the only player on that pitch for Spurs worth their salt…
My theory, Harry is saving himself for a spectacular World Cup, he’s not going to exert himself for a board that don’t care about his welfare.
So what’s the verdict on our new director of football? Terrible goalkeeper, and an equally terrible right wing back.
Sure Romero looks good and Gil might be good in three years but how has any of Paratici’s work improved our situation so far? One player decent enough to start out of five signings so far, and even he’s injury prone!… 🤔
Predictable you mean?
Except he hears monkey chants in his head. The lad needs a shrink.
😂
How can you love a club so much and hate it so much at the same time with equal intensity?
The fookers stole that result tonight though TBF. We had chances.
Can we have Rudiger please. That boy has got the right stuff!
No hope. More fear, can’t lose to those South London gypos again
Kane’s hung out to dry in this Spurs team. Totally shot, and sell-on value plummeting like a Cessna into the Bermuda Triangle, with Sonny hanging off the landing gear. Our most important player right now is Lucas Moura. Sad times.
As the cheese room looks on.
That was very meh.
Our billion-dollar stadium is certainly becoming a fortress feared by our opponents. Money well spent.
Lo Celso would break his toe.
bottom-filling pint buyer questions imperial wights & measures
man with dodgy burger (undercooked onion) waves at hospitality for explanation
game stops
welcome
Send her my regards!
If it was our players doing the kicking he’d be in no danger.
Slighty?
Well there is a new breed of humans …apparently.
You forgot to mention he was vertically challenged too.
Probably you had to make do with first aiders, St John’s Ambulance if you were in the crowd.
A leading cardiologist in England has said the vaccine is linked to some deaths in the UK of those who have died from stroke and heart attacks.
Exactly.
Apparently a bald headed man with Himmler style glasses went down and had a good arse kicking for some unknown reason.
They did for players.
