Tottenham striker Harry Kane’s future has been a constant topic of speculation over the last few seasons.
The England international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last season but Daniel Levy and Spurs managed to convince him to stay. Now there are rumours that the Londoners could agree on a new contract with their star striker.
According to former Tottenham player Alan Hutton, Kane might just decide to commit his long-term future to the Premier League club following a successful summer transfer window.
Hutton believes that Kane wanted the club to show some ambition and he will feel that Spurs have a squad capable of challenging for trophies now.
Hutton said to Football Insider: “The whole thing with him was he wanted to have that feeling that he had a squad that can go and compete.
“He’s probably been thinking, in recent years, that he’s not quite had that, it’s not quite been there. Now, with the recruitment that’s been put in place, he can probably feel that Tottenham can actually do something this season.”
Antonio Conte had an eventful summer transfer window and he managed to strengthen his squad significantly with quality additions like Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.
The Londoners showed significant improvement towards the end of last season and they have managed to start this season reasonably well.
With the likes of Manchester City struggling to hit top form just yet, Spurs will feel that they have a chance of pushing the top teams this season.
Tying down Kane to a new long-term contract will come as a massive boost for the fanbase as well as the dressing room. It will be interesting to see how that situation develops over the next few weeks.

Yep replacing Benzema would be far more likely… Still, we all want him to stay, break his prem records, and lift trophies with us.. To do it finally at the end of his career would be marvellous.
I’ve said it before and will repeat it,he would be foolish to commit to anything under Levy until he actually achieves some silverware.Levy’s bare-faced lies cannot be trusted and the ball is in his court.
He has two years left on his contract and there is no guarantee Conte will commit either. And he should get rid of his brother as manager as it will require a cunning batard just like Levy to negotiate on his behalf.Barring serious injury all the cards are in his hand,I just hope he realises.
As MS says below, what does Hutton know about anything.
How would Alan Hutton have any insight into Kane’s future contractual decisions? He has no more idea than me, but Vinicius Jr now has Spanish citizenship which frees up a place for a foreign player and Benzema is thirty four. I think it will all be determined by what happens this season but Bayern appear to be very interested in him as well.
