“He should stay wherever he is” negative reaction to potential Eriksen return

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Christian Eriksen as he struggles with his time at Inter Milan.

The Dane was on the books of Spurs from 2013 until January 2020. His previous deal was set to expire at the end of last season, but Spurs wanted him to stay.

The Lilywhites tried to offer him a new deal as the club was keen to get him to stay, but he had made up his mind to leave.

He was sold to Inter Milan in the last January transfer window, but his time with the Italian side has been a disappointing one for him.

As the BBC published on their Twitter account that Spurs have been offered the chance to sign him again, some Spurs fans gave him a piece of their mind under the post.

Not all the responses were negative it has to be said but the fact that there was a significant number that was tells you that he would not be universally welcomed.

Totally agree here Steve. As good as he can be on his day, to win trophies, we need better than him.

Levy seemed desperate for the ‘Great Pain’ to stay on the amazon doc.. But Maureen told him the truth straight up.. He said Tintin was very good technically. But no final push, no extra drive that all the top players have. Levy was told nicely that Tintin wasn’t a top player.. I would be highly suprised if Maureen would have him back. Some papers have been running with this ever since he left for Inter. If the BBC are correct and we have been offered him then surely not… We have a large squad now, with no money, so we would have to sell first…… The thought of Tintin back on corners and sideways passing and running towards opponents only to stop still and do nothing makes me worry.. If we did sign him again then best to not play him in any final or important game. Once a bottler, always a bottler.

Eriksen in the form of three or four season ago would still be one of the first names on the team sheet…so I’m a bit torn.

Can’t see it happening as either he won’t want to come back or at least one of Levy or Jose won’t trust him to deliver.
