“He is simply making too many errors” Tottenham man risks being permanently dropped by Mourinho

Eric Dier is one of Jose Mourinho’s most trusted players, but his recent errors could see him lose his place in the Tottenham first team. This is what Standard Sports’ Dan Kilpatrick thinks.

The Englishman has been an ever-present in the Tottenham team this season with the club only seemingly looking for a defensive partner for him.

But his recent errors have cost him a place in the team in two of Tottenham’s last three matches, and that isn’t a good sign.

After being dropped for Tottenham’s game against Brighton, which they lost, Mourinho quickly reinstated him for the match against Chelsea, but he made a costly mistake that led to a penalty.

That cost him his place in the game with West Brom, and Kilpatrick thinks it might be harder for him to get back in the team now.

He writes on Standard Sports”: How many lives has Eric Dier already used up under Jose Mourinho?

“For the second time in three matches, the England defender was seemingly dropped for Tottenham’s win over West Brom following a costly mistake against Chelsea.

“Dier was quickly welcomed back to the team for the Blues’ visit having lost his place for the defeat at Brighton but his road back to Mourinho’s favour may be a harder this time, which could have implications for his England place.

“He is simply making too many errors. Mourinho’s thinking at centre-half should become clearer in midweek, with Toby Alderweireld likely to need a rest for Wednesday’s cup tie at Everton.

“It will be intriguing to see if Dier comes back in, with Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez both putting him under pressure.”

Dier’s poor form just shows one reason why Spurs have been underperforming in this campaign.

If they can get a team of players who can stay consistent, things would be better.
