Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski has heaped praise on teammate Lucas Bergvall ahead of his competitive Sweden debut.
The North London club are home to quite a few talented young players including signings from the recently concluded summer transfer window. Lucas Bergvall is one of the young stars who were added to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season. While Spurs had struck a deal with Djurgården at the start of the year, the teenager has recently made the move to England.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has already made his first-team debut for Tottenham and now he is all set to feature in a competitive game for Sweden. While he did make his debut for the national team back in January in a friendly game against Estonia, he is now all set to feature in the Nations League. His compatriot Dejan Kulusevski has been full of praises for the youngster. While the former Juventus star is only 24, he is serving as a mentor and a guide for the teenager.
While speaking on Football.London, Kulusevski said: “Yeah absolutely [he deserves the call-up]. He has been fantastic. He has come in and he’s doing really good every day, training hard and learning from the other players. I’m happy for him and I’m happy that I can bring him to the national team with me.”
“[He will be] huge. He’s very young but I think he can help us already from tomorrow [Monday], so I’m happy that he’s going to be there. Of course, he’s young but we’ll be there to guide him and help him.”
Kulusevski feels the teenager can make an instant impact on the international stage. The teenager absolutely deserves the call up as he has been sensational since making the move to London. He has come in and been really good in training which suggests he could help them from the start.
The 24-year-old is happy to see the exceptional growth Bergvall has had in recent months and is elated to have him in the national team. He might be young but there are quite a few experienced campaigners who will help him get used to the biggest stage. Spurs fans will be quite happy to see how far the teenager has come in recent months and they will be hoping he gets better with time.
