‘He could walk away’, former star’s verdict will worry Spurs fans – opinion

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has made quite an impact since joining the London club but there have always been rumours surrounding his long-term future at the Premier League club.

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has now shared his thoughts on the Italian’s long-term future at the club.

Robinson believes that there are no guarantees when it comes to Conte’s long-term future and the Italian will be the master of his own destiny.

The former Tottenham player claims that even if Conte signs a long-term contract with the London club, he could walk away at any time if he feels like it.

“He could walk away at any time. He is the master of his own destiny. We all know what a strong character he is. I honestly do not think the length of his contract is going to be an issue. Whether it is five months or five years, he will do what he wants. If he wants to stay he will stay and if he wants to go he will go”, Robinson said to Football Insider.

Conte has a tendency of switching clubs from time to time and he is not someone who likes to stick around for the long haul.

Robinson’s claims will certainly come as a bit of a worry for the Tottenham fans who adore the Italian manager.

It is clear that Conte has improved Tottenham enormously since his arrival and they will have to hold on to him for as long as possible if they want to challenge for the major trophies in the upcoming seasons.

Furthermore, top players like Harry Kane will want a world-class manager like him in charge when it comes to evaluating their long-term future at the club as well.

It will be interesting to see whether Daniel Levy can convince the Italian to stay for the long haul by helping him fulfill his ambitions at the London club. Conte is a proven winner and he is likely to demand constant improvement of the squad so that he can win major trophies.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few years, but there is no doubt that Spurs will have to remain ambitious in the market in order to hold on to their top players and their manager.
