‘have already started talks’, ‘would prefer a loan move’ – Latest on 28-year-old midfielder linked with a January move

Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is at the center of transfer speculation once again, with Italian giants Juventus reportedly showing interest in the Danish player.

According to Monday’s edition of Corriere Torino (via Sport Witness), Juventus ‘have already started contacts‘ with Hojbjerg’s entourage.

The problem as per the report is proving to be the demands put forward by the London club. This newspaper reports that Spurs are asking for €30m while other reports suggest that the figure in asking is €40m.

It has been said that Juventus would ‘prefer a loan move’ and while there may be a January move possible, Spurs wants an obligation to purchase clause added to any loan deal.

Tottenham are actively looking to bolster its midfield, as the current squad lacks depth in that department.

Hojbjerg’s future at the club has been uncertain, and he has reportedly grown frustrated with his situation.

His recent decision to change agents suggests a desire for a new challenge, either in the January transfer window or during the upcoming summer transfer period.

Hojbjerg arrived at Tottenham in 2020 after impressing during his time at Southampton. Since joining Spurs, he has been a consistent and dependable presence in midfield.

However, he has failed to impress the new manager Ange Postecoglou who has instilled a completely new playing style at the club.

During the summer transfer window, Atletico Madrid expressed interest in signing him, but a deal did not materialize.

Now, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid both in the running for his signature and Hojbjerg eager for a change, a January transfer appears increasingly likely.
