Has Tottenham Bailed On Piatek? Chelsea Could Snap Up AC Striker Says Miguel Delaney

By The Boy -

Krzysztof Piatek to Tottenham may yet prove to be another one of those now infamous one that got away transfer situations.

The Telegraph’s chief football writer Miguel Delaney, claims that Spurs have failed to see the value in paying £30million for the 24-year-old AC Milan striker.

Suddenly this blogger is experiencing that biannual sinking feeling, that routinely occurs during Premier League transfer windows. That horribly short-changed feeling.

Given the recent kerfuffle with PSV Eindhoven’s Steven Bergwijn, it’s not beyond the bounds of reason to believe that with Piatek out of the picture, Spurs went with a player deemed to “represent better value” to the board.

If this is the case, then may I be the first to say, “Welcome to Tottenham Hotspur football club, Mr Mourinho.”

The business of Spurs’ current vacancy for a defensive midfielder will hopefully be solved once Tanguy Ndombele has found his bowling length on the training pitches at Hotspur Way.

However, the business of Spurs’ rustling up an additional striker is not something that might so readily resolve itself.

Sterling is only looking good because at England he plays alongside one of the most dangerous no9’s in football that draws a lot of attention from defenders, and for City, even I would look good with DeBruyne passing to me, I think you could put a stick in the 18yrd box and DeBruyne could hit it in a way that leads to a goal. As for this dutch lad, I am never a fan of players that throw their toys out their pram to get a move (even to us) and this lad simply looks like a quick player, to play in a way we don’t actually need someone. I see this lad as “one for the future” rather than now, with the intent that Moura or Son will go (I am wondering if Son and Jose get on, as our Korean superstar seems to have lost his smile again).

Finn
Finn

Not for the first time am I left scratching my increasingly thinning
pate wondering WTF!

The Dutch lad Bergwijn looks increasingly likely to be a
spud in the near future and whilst he does look quick on the video roll, his
finishing is somewhat unpolished to say the least. Whilst he’s looking quick
against a mix of park footballers and lesser known cloggies; how will he fare
against defenders who are fit fast and wiley. He appears to play in Son’s position
and performs a bit like Lucas.

On the other hand I thought he showed some similarities in his
play to Sterling of a few years back and if he could follow a similar path then
of course we’d all be crowing about how we spotted it right away.

But what has me confused is he’s basically another N’winger
who we’re paying 25-30mill for when we have no No.9 and nothing left in the Defensive Midfield drawer maybe Levy just gets over-excited when he’s told there’s a wide boy available…

How are we 3 days away from the end of the window and still not filled (even been linked with) the 2 most desperate roles? We need a DMF and we NEED a striker (a real no9). If the window closes without at least one of these roles filled to a suitable level (should be both) then I am almost 100% at the point where I think Mourinho is just a publicity stunt (I thought it at the start, been convinced to give him a chance and I personally have seen no improvement, in actual fact, think we are a worse looking side.)

It’s not that I don’t want to believe it. I’d love to think that players, top players want to come to spurs. But the harsh reality is we ain’t getting any of em. We make it 100% harder to sign a Clogger than anyone else, so my hopes of signing a real star ain’t high. My shift is nearly finished now, and after a cursory examination of the morning gossip columns I think it poetic to finish off with the same thought as I started. F%@k off enic. I will of course apologise profusely upon waking should I find cavanni, fernandes, and any right back with more going upstairs than a bungalow are all stood in front of the magnificent training facilities with a spurs shirt in their hands…. Jesus I must be dreaming already

Levy still bungling transfers it begs belief! No top club operates like this.. Liverpool needed a centre back and goalie. No messing around they got in allison and van dijk straight away. Top players.. It takes our scouting system and levy YEARS to address a single position/player/problem. Even now we cannot manage to sign benchwarmers from other clubs because (apparently 30 mil is too much for a player who is not the best).. The players prices and wages now are through the roof, still everythings relative so there is no excuse for incompetence. Baldy can’t blame the building of the superbowel anymore thats done and dusted…. What makes me laugh isl levy and alot of peoples high expectations that we should be ‘winning stuff’… We can’t even get ‘second best or unwanted’ players in…. We need a decent striker so go get one its simple. I won’t be happy personally until we start signing real quality like bale or any world class standard player… Levys bungling of berahino grealish and the rest have given me slim hopes… H was calling on all this before we were even building that stadium.. What is the point of having a ferrari stadium and filling her up with ford fiestas… Our greatest ever manager bill nicholson had some quotes that levy could learn from.. “Spurs have got to be the best in the land, not second best” ..”if you dont win anything then you’ve had a bad season”.. “any player coming to spurs whether a big signing or groundstaff boy must be dedicated to the game and the club. They must hate losing”…… Boy have we fallen far from the apple tree.

What if it is buy this player or nothing? That’s the problem. We don’t get good cover for the positions we need. Last season Sonny covered for Kane’s absence and Levy doesn’t see this as luck, he sees a proper support striker for a CL team as an optional extra.’

So you support the idea that Levy’s building project was designed to attract the best players in the world to Tottenham? Our broken past has never been better illustrated than under ENIC’ management. Unfortunately nothing has changed. We are currently a CL team courtesy of last year’s effort and now are struggling to get any Euro football next year. You have to pay overs to get quality players if you’re not in Europe or hope that Mourinho can do a Poch and turn young water into wine. Or buy top quality players for the positions we need now to allow the serial winner to compete. Otherwise it is going to have the opposite effect -Kane, Son will be off, Toby declining, Hugo nearer to the end than the beginning etc and we get Gedson.

He’s still dining on the VDV transfer, that’s my theory. That’s the only transfer when he brought in a player that immediately improved the side greatly. He came from Real Madrid, they paid part of his wages and he had a terrible injury record.

Arry managed him like Ledley and trained him very lightly and it worked for a couple of seasons.

I can’t think of ONE transfer other than that, of a real quality established player.

Levy is one huge bore and actually very bad at getting players in, apart from ones that are desperate to come. Look at this Dutch lad, so desperate to get some coin at Spurs that he’s gone rogue from PSV. I had to google him… 😂

How come we are permanently linked with kak that non of the other so called big boys are after yet we are aspiring to chase them down with these people? Also i read a levy lover stating that it’s difficult to do deals in Jan. Just a heads up. An agent is an agent and a sellor a sellor. Simple enough formula. They will ask a price, we haggle, but don’t try and cut fee in half and offer him more than the electricians were getting to bugger the ground up in wages and doing a deal in January is no different than at any other time. Still he only has a few more days to hide and he can pocket the Danish ones fee like he does every January, dembele, Holtby, fazio…. Yawn. Still could be worse. Could be the sky correspondent outside the training ground, the best in the world, on deadline day….

Levy has a lot of press people in his pocket, they’ll pop up with some praise for him just when things are looking a bit bleak.

In fact, much of the football media are getting back handers from the owners of big clubs. “You want exclusive interviews with my players and managers? Then don’t you dare slag me off…’

It’s the same old Groundhog Day transfer window narrative spewing out of THFC. The journos lap it up and spit it out into the media. The same use of language, THFC are looking at, THFC are in conversation with, THFC have made an approach. THFC are negotiating with. Then as the window draws to an end, it’s THFC have lost interest, THFC have withdrawn from negotiations, THFC have bailed out of the deal.THFC consider the price is beyond their budget. The THFC PR spin churns out names of players that appear to give the impression that the club is actually looking to add quality to the squad. These then all fall away and we end up with some no mark cheaper younger option that does not solve the immediate issues within the team but may create more value for Levy and ENIC in the future. Levy and ENIC do not invest. They sell players to buy players. That is why very often everything happens at the last minute because Levy hasn’t got the value he wants or the cash in quickly enough so it all happens when he manages to sell someone. No doubt the Eriksen money will be the only money spent unless he sells Rose, Kyle Walker Peters and Wanyama. As for the Bale rumours that is a classic Levy Dybala smokescreen. To imagine Levy working around the clock to bring Bale and his payroll on board is beyond the realms of fantasy. Just another morsel of hope to keep the mugged off punters paying ticket prices representative of a world class football club that actually wins CL competitions and Titles not one League Cup in nearly two decades.ENIC OUT
