Harry Kane’s Latest Award Only Serves To Reinforce A Wasted Career At Tottenham | opinion

By The Boy -

Still, enjoying the ride? It’s difficult to believe Harry Kane is getting much ride enjoyment after plowing a decade of his life into a club that has so far only secured him ‘awards’ that no serious footballer would even put on their CV.

Golden boots and Player Of The Year gongs are all well and good, but they are afterthoughts in the scheme of player prizes. Domestic cup winners’ medals, European cup winners’ medals, and World Cup winners’ medals are the real achievements.

The sad truth of the matter is that at 27-years-of-age Kane is perilously close to having wasted a stellar talent in return for people singing ‘he’s one of our own’ at him occasionally.

Let’s put aside those voices of those making excuses for their own shortcomings and acknowledge that ego – within reason – isn’t a bad thing and that rewarding excellence isn’t a bad thing. When Manchester City lifted the League Cup amidst fireworks and corks popping, was that just showing off, something to be actively discouraged?

I’m tired of the excuses, and I am struggling to believe that Harry isn’t either. 31 goals and 16 assists in 44 appearances so far this term, and it earns him what – ‘London Footballer of the Year‘?

Hope he decides to go? I don’t. He’s got 5 years left in him. He can win things here in that time. I know some people don’t think we will coz apparently we’re hopeless

But the truth is for City it is not about top 4 or cup success they do both. They qualify for the Cl every year with ease.
It’s also a well known fact that the most important prize that they want to win is the Champions league

£5m a year pay rise and a bunch of medals for the cabinet vs a 3 hour drive down the M5 for the wife every other week.

Get real!

Its not always about money though. Footballers, generally, aren’t too bright & for some, it is about earning more with each move they make. However, when you have a family, I think you’d rather the wife was happy & you were earning 200k per week than she was unhappy, miles from her family & you were earning 300k per week. Unless you were a greedy Welshman, refusing to give an inch even though you’ve got upwards of 50 million in the bank. Not being in that position makes it almost impossible to comment objectively on.

I think Harry has a very settled family life, but his wife would understand if he wanted them to uproot for what would be a comparitely short period of time.

But because of his strong family ties I would doubt he would leave the UK.having said that of course it would reduce his options.I just hope he decides to go and realise his ambition at a progressive side. Some may argue that City would buy his rewards, but they are still his medals.

I didn’t say he lacked ambition. I said he’d be accused of lacking ambition if he didn’t indicate that he’d look elsewhere if the team wasn’t improving. He needs to make those comments to give the club/team a kick up the backside it deserves.

My other point was that Levy will price him out of the market & then we’ll be back to the position we where when Berbatov, Bale, Modric etc all said they wanted to move on & refused to play for us, claiming they were injured. Ultimately, the player always gets what they want. If the price is too high, we’ll end up with part-exchanges.

Here’s football 2021. Clyde v East Fife called off last night minutes before kick off cos East Fife players REFUSED TO PLAY cos of a positive(false) covid test??!! SFA cleared the match but they wouldn’t play. These are grown men, can you imagine? More PCR farce chaos, the league has back log galore already and this was another ridiculous event. I had the match on a winning goal rush which cut the winnings in half. So nice work you pitiful bunch. Asymtomatic spread is a lie that is STILL somehow perpetuated as fact and is causing utter chaos in work places and sports events all over. Unbelievable.

Harry has earned his right to go somewhere else in the ‘pursuit of Glory’ (why can’t Spurs seek Glory 😉 ?) … and he shouldn’t be barracked if he ever returns to play against Spurs in a match. Saying that, I think his Spurs legacy will be more watertight if he doesn’t go to a Premier League club

This idea that getting top four was the equivalent of winning a trophy was a con that Wenger imposed on the arse. For some unfathomable reason it has become the mantra for teams that are less than ambitious, just greedy for the CL money.

City are a well funded football team, they’re not just simply trying to get in the Champions League to grab all the TV revenue and not spend it on the team like us.

Our owners really are a despicable bunch…

There has been a sort of agenda going in recent years that CL qualification is the B’ all, and domestic cups are nothing.
Any loon with that logic only needs to watch Pep and his team display the sheer joy and thrills of winning a trophy, it’s what most players of any generation want from their careers, apart from those who’s only desire is to be rich.

Has Jose’s winner DNA been generally correlated to the backing he’s had over the years? How many mid table wastrels and relegation battlers has he ever managed?

He came with the cachet of a winner but the DNA? It obviously doesn’t exist. Jose has worked for clubs that actually want to win stuff and he won stuff. At a club with owners that don’t step up to the plate, he didn’t win anything. Just like Poch…

So much faux outrage, a lot of these people were the happy clappers sucking it up for the previous 22 years. As you say, why now? 🤔

if Kane goes then it’s abroad for me. What’s to be gained from helping Citeh win stuff they’re going to win anyway when they play in the same league.?

Ryan Mason was 2nd apparently.
The we are Tottenham tv perculiar over night 180 continues as they’ve just done a video called, “the failures of ENIC” . Im suspicious of where all this is suddenly coming from, AFTV are doing it too….long long long after the damage was done, and silence was golden from all concerned….until now. Is it just for hits? Is there a wider agenda?
The question is, again, where were they 5, 10 years ago? Insulting the handful on this blog who trying to tell em this all along I expect. Where were they when WHL was torn down and businesses and homes were being destroyed for ENICs Regeneration plan with an NFL/even bowl at the centre? The whole thing is pathetic and it stinks.

The party’s over lads, now it’s just a soggy carpet, broken bottles and a passed out stranger in a dress in the bath….

Too late and I suspect they know it. RIP THFC.

There is always the possibility that him & his family are settled where they are & won’t want the upheaval of moving to Manchester & he’s not going to earn a shed load more than he’s earning now. He has to make noises about not just staying for sentimental reasons otherwise people will say he lacks ambition. Only he knows what he thinks but one thing is for sure – he’s got nearly 3 years left on his contract (I think) & the only way he’s going anywhere is by asking for a transfer. At that point, Danny Boy says he’s for sale & bids start at 250 million. I wonder how that’s going to end?

Ryan Masons lack self awareness when he declared a return to Spurs’ DNA.

Yep. Ritualistic bottlers and losers.

I wanted Jose’s winner DNA.

Is there an anti Spurs vaccine? Please..

The latest crisis has really got me thinking:

What sort of a buffoon are you if you think that ‘winning things’ is somehow less important than ‘playing pretty football’.

And why are people so easily duped into believing that both are mutually exclusive?

It’s a point that’s been made on here a thousand times:
If you’re the kind of person that views a semi final win (no matter the competition) as somehow more important an achievement that winning the Milk Cup then you need to WAKE UP.

I feel like i’m stuck in The Matrix. Or i’ve fallen into a mirror world.Or i’m up the Faraway Tree in ‘The Land of Sh*te’

When did our expectations for our club become so low? Why is the bench mark ‘Top 4’?

If you can’t see that then you’re part of the problem ladies and gentlemen.
