Harry Kane tipped to help England exploit Tottenham star’s weakness in World Cup

England takes on France in the quarter-finals of the World Cup later today and the Three Lions will be hoping to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition with a victory.

Gareth Southgate’s men have been quite impressive in the tournament so far and they will be hoping to go all the way.

According to former Premier League star Graeme Souness, England could look to take advantage of Hugo Lloris’ weaknesses when the two sides come face-to-face on Saturday.

Souness wrote in his column with Daily Mail that Tottenham striker Harry Kane will have briefed his England teammates regarding the weaknesses of the French international goalkeeper, and it remains to be seen whether England can punish France accordingly.

He wrote in his column for The Daily Mail: “I’ve never been an enormous fan of Hugo Lloris. When I watch him play, he does something which top goalkeepers don’t do, by diving for a ball that is heading two yards wide of the post.

“That’s a sure sign that he’s not quite sure of his angles a lot of the time. I’m sure Harry Kane has pointed out his Spurs team-mate’s shortcomings to England’s coaching staff and players.”

Lloris has been a key player for club and country over the last decade, but his form has not been up to the mark this season.

The 35-year-old has not been at his best and he has been severely criticised for his inconsistent performances in the Premier League this season.

Didier Deschamps will certainly be hoping for his star goalkeeper to regain his top form ahead of a quarter-final clash against England.

The Three Lions have a number of quality attacking players at their disposal, and they could really punish France if Lloris does not step up.

England managed to reach the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the finals of the European championships. They will be hoping to go all the way in the World Cup this year and win their first major international trophy in decades.
