Great Quote: ‘Everyone Wants To Play Like Spurs’

By The Boy -

Christian Eriksen is the golden boy once more after a memorable win over Wales.

Denmark manager Age Hareide said after the recent international friendly victory that Eriksen has a different role for the national team to the one he plays at Spurs.

The Danish plan is to get the ball quicker to him in more advanced parts of the pitch. Christian told PA Sport:

“I’m a little bit further up the pitch here and not so much involved in the build-up because we probably have less of a build-up than we do at Spurs. It’s a bit different with Denmark, we go for the long ball a bit earlier and try to get the second ball. Everyone wants to play like Spurs. We want to play attractive football, get the ball forward and create chances with good possession.”

This is one technique used in national games that I wouldn’t want to see adopted at Tottenham.

Eriksen is our primary playmaker in attack areas, and we already has two ‘shadow’, or secondary strikers in the form of Dele Alli and now, Lucas Moura.

It has to be said that Toby Alerdiereld does deliver some supremely good long balls, but we’ve enough midfield issues without edging Eriksen further out of the war zone.

Spurs vs Liverpool is this Saturday’s 1230hr kick off, at Wembley Stadium.
