We live in challenging times online, to put it mildly. Speak in a manner deemed by unelected guardians of our morality, and one could get be cancelled faster than the speed of… well, the actual time it takes a bunch of swivel-eyed activists to publish a disapproving Tweet.
Gennaro Gattuso is, in my opinion, a bit of a plinth, but people such as Carolina Morace are able to offer perspective – opposed to seizing quotes and shriek in a medieval way about how the hurty word man ought to be de-platformed – or should the Lazio women’s coach simply be deemed a collaborator?!
On a more footballing note, I see zero benefits to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club of bringing Gattuso to Hotspur Way.
Hoddle had some strange views.. Who cares what managers think and believe. What matters is if they can do their job.
I thought Joe Jordan was perticularly restrained in that incident with Gattuso.Had he let his feelings go i suspect he might have been up on a charge of GBH with Gattuso facing a hefty medical bill.
We should be going for Galtier… Still I would prefer Gattuso or even Roy Keane over the meek, mouse like managers the Fonz, Potter, Southgate, Howe… The boss should be a man, a leader, and part monster is just fine.
I thought it would be a PR disaster under the jackboot of this PC, cancel culture social media led nightmare in which we now live under.
I’m sure Gatusso is just merely ‘conservative, and possibly a little out of step as Italian football seems to be compared other countries. The man isn’t a monster, the point here is that he will be portrayed as one. We just can’t afford to add another out of control jackknifed lorry to this current pile up at Spurs…
The term sexist was first coined by a feminist in 1965 ish, and the term racist was widely first credited to Trotsky.
Tells you everything.
Of course he’s not. Gattuso can say what he wants to, there was never even any context or direct quotes to what he actually did supposedly say…Typically.
If he wasn’t the complete wrong level of appointment I wouldn’t mind him coming in as manger, a bit of no nonsense, non pandering strong mindedness would be just the ticket.
The social media driven, mind controlled ,faux outrage sub culture has saturated and distorted reality to the point of chaotic lunacy.
All by design of course.
Snowflakes to many people just get offended over the smallest thing grow a set
He looks like the wildman of Borneo.
He didn’t not get cancelled because of the attack (I have said he shouldn’t be in the conversation because of his temperament), he got cancelled due to supposed homophobia and bigotry.
Or you could just shut your mouth and concentrate on improving your team.
What about the attack on JJ was that something to laugh off now.
Look at Ollie Robertson. He posted stuff as a teenager which was pretty low grade, unfunny teenage humour, but he’s now a racist sexist pig whose career could go up in smoke.
Social media archaeology sums up the left, rooting in dustbins, looking for hurty words, while the rest of get on with our lives
You know you’re going to burn in a hell created by people that have NEVER EVER had any kind of less than 100% PC and open minded thought in their entire lives, right?
Unfortunetly, certain sections of the left are obsessed with taking the worst possible interpretation of what people say.
Gattuso said this (lgbt controversy) in 2008, when this belief was hardly controversial, but rather mainstream. To put this into context, Obama opposed same sex-marriage in 2008, so did Biden.
Even the supposed racist comments were at worst ignorant rather than hateful.
The only comments that seemed to me a bit bigoted were about women’s football, but that too was 7-8 years ago. People are allowed to grow, and we have no idea whether he still believes it now.
Look, Gattuso should never have been in the conversation for the spurs job, but that should have been due to footballing, agent and temperament reasons. If people want to dig up what people said 10-15 years ago, then they should start with themselves and their families
