Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher believe Tottenham will return empty-handed from Old Trafford
Tottenham had only won one out of their first four league outings and things were not really looking bright for the North London club. But, they turned things around with three wins in a row in all competitions. They won their last league outing against Brentford, a game which saw club-record signing Dominic Solanke bag his first goal for the club.
Spurs got the better of Coventry City in the EFL Cup and they defeated Qarabag in their Europa League opener despite being reduced to ten men. Agne Postecoglou’s men are now gearing up to face Manchester United away from home. It is going to be an exciting clash for the North London club against a top-four rival. While they will be hoping for all three points, former United and Liverpool stars Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher feel Spurs won’t get the better of the Red Devils.
While speaking on Stick to Football, Neville said: “I think Man United are winning that game.
“They struggle to score goals Man United, but I just think Sunday, it will be a good atmosphere and Tottenham is always a good game at Old Trafford. I will go 2-1 Man United.”
Carragher went on to add: “2-1 Man United – when you start to say Man United played well away at Palace and they drew 0-0, it’s like ‘Oh my God’.”
The duo made a slight adjustment to their prediction, Neville added: “Shall we raise them and go 3-1? (after Roy Keane and Ian Wright predicted that result) I think we will get a third goal late on.”
Carragher agreed with his colleague and added: “Yeah, let’s go for it.”
While Tottenham have won each of their last three games, neither pundit feels they can get a positive result against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag’s team drew against Crystal Palace in their last Premier League outing while they failed to defeat FC Twente in their Europa League opener. Things haven’t been going according to plan for them and despite that, the duo have predicted a win for the team in red.
Neville and Carragher might be backing United to come out on top here but recent form suggests Spurs could spoil the party at Old Trafford on Sunday. They have been playing some impressive football of late and with the majority of their stars in form, it won’t be sensible to count them out.
