Gary Lineker points to Ryan Sessegnon as the “most exciting” players in English football

Tottenham Hotspur is seeing a lot of criticism following their 5th Round FA Cup to Middlesbrough. The north London club has seen their performance be called pathetic by pundits others have targeted specific players like Harry Kane.

Nonetheless, not everything coming out of the months from English football pundits is negative or toxic. During a segment on the BBC (via Mirror), Gary Lineker stated that he was impressed by full-back Ryan Sessegnon.

The 21-year-old was the brightest spark on the pitch for Spurs this past Wednesday. Furthermore, Lineker stated that Sessegnon is one of the ‘most exciting’ youngsters in English football.

“Sessegnon vs. Jones, probably two of the most exciting full-backs in our game,” Lineker said. “It’s five games consecutive that he [Sessegnon] has played. It’s good that he is getting a run in the side. Conte obviously has faith in him.”

Sessegnon has found consistent playing time under manager Antonio Conte. Last weekend against Leeds United, the young defender played 78 minutes, registering one assist and providing two key passes.

Tottenham hopes that Sessegnon can find that form that has made him one of the better young players during his time with Fulham.
