Gareth Bale identifies Tottenham’s biggest problem under Ange; makes prediction for next season

Tottenham Hotspur icon Gareth Bale has expressed his full support for manager Ange Postecoglou, insisting that the Australian is the right man to guide Spurs to future success.

Postecoglou’s first season at Tottenham has been a rollercoaster, marked by an impressive start followed by challenges, but Bale believes the former Celtic boss has laid a strong foundation for the club.

Tottenham began the season with an unbeaten run of ten games, winning eight and drawing two. This remarkable form saw Postecoglou earn three consecutive Manager of the Month awards, and the team were briefly considered underdogs for the Premier League title.

However, injuries disrupted their momentum, leading to an inconsistent campaign. From being top of the table and considered underdogs for the Premier League title, they ended up finishing 5th, missing out on the Champions League qualification by 2 points.

Despite the disappointing end to the season, people at Tottenham are convinced that he is the right man for the job, and it is a sentiment which is shared by Spurs icon Gareth Bale.

In an interview with The Independent, Bale shared his perspective on Tottenham’s season and Postecoglou’s impact:

“I think they’ve had a very successful season. The biggest problem was that they started so well and the expectation went too much and too soon. It was a bit unfair. Ange has done an incredible job. Losing Harry (Kane) was going to be a massive loss, the amount of goals you lose.

“So to be able to finish higher than in previous seasons speaks massive volumes of how well the manager has done. He has also got them playing the Tottenham way.

“I went back again this season and it was very enjoyable to watch. Ange is definitely the right man for the job. “If they can have a great transfer window this summer, which I’m sure they will, they’ll be in a better place next season.”

Postecoglou’s influence has been felt both on and off the pitch. Under his guidance, Tottenham have returned to a more attractive brand of football, reminiscent of the style seen during Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure.

This shift has not only improved performances but also rejuvenated the atmosphere around the club.

The close bond between the players and the positive relationship with the fans are testaments to Postecoglou’s impact. The mood around the club has lifted significantly, creating a sense of optimism for the future.

As Tottenham looks ahead to the next season, the focus will be on building upon the progress made under Postecoglou. With a successful transfer window, as Bale anticipates, Spurs could be well-positioned to challenge for top honours and re-establish themselves among the Premier League’s elite.
