Tottenham’s hopes of landing Gareth Bale in the summer have been dealt a major blow after his agent confirmed that he is enjoying his time in Spain.
Spurs have been linked with bringing Gareth Bale back to the Premier League for some months now.
Their cause has been helped by the fact that the Welshman doesn’t appear to be one of the favourites of Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.
However, he has somehow remained there to fight for his career even though his time in Madrid has been disrupted by persistent injuries.
With reports linking him with a move to the Premier League, his agent spoke about his future and he claimed that he doesn’t know how much the winger is valued and that he earns quite high in terms of salary, before saying that he has a nice lifestyle in Spain.
“I have no idea what his value is. His salary is quite high and also where he wants to go is very important in his life. I can’t put a figure on it,” Barnett told BBC Radio 4 as quoted by BBC website.
“It’s for the clubs to decide what they want to pay for him.
“As I’ve always said, he’s quite happy at Madrid. He has a very nice lifestyle, I don’t see why he wouldn’t see his career out in Madrid probably.
“It’s his life that he wants to lead. Financially he will want enough for the rest of his life and all his children and grandchildren. He’s won nearly everything in the world except the World Cup.

“To come back and play [in the Premier League] would be a big thing but I don’t think he wants to do that at the moment as he’s quite happy to play at Real Madrid.”
That seems fairly clear, Bale is set to finish his career in Spain unless someone comes along and matches his wages. That is how I read the comments from Barnett.
It was always a long shot that Bale would return to Tottenham and I would suggest it is now an almost certainty that he will not.
