Gaps starting to open up as another Tottenham defender could be on his way

Tottenham will be looking to add some new players to their team this summer and the defence is one area that we could see some significant activity.

The Lilywhites have already lost Jan Vertonghen, who has just departed and is now a free agent, and they are about to lose Juan Foyth as well, according to Sun Sports.

The Argentinean, who joined Spurs in 2017, has been sidelined for much of Jose Mourinho’s tenure and he looks set to be sold.

Sun Sports claims that newly promoted Leeds United are preparing to make a move for him to bolster their team after earning a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

It claims that the Whites will sign him regardless of whether they bring back Ben White, who was so impressive for them, on a permanent transfer.

Foyth was a regular under Mauricio Pochettino, but Mourinho doesn’t appear to rate him as highly and that might make it easy for Leeds to complete the transfer.

The defender has earlier spoken about wanting to play under Leeds manager, Marcelo Bielsa.

He said: “Bielsa is one of the best coaches in the world and it would be nice to be coached by him.”

If Foyth does leaves, he will be the second defender that the club has lost this summer, and Spurs will need to plug the gaps being created before the start of the new season.
