Future of Tottenham youngster in question as he prepares to go out on loan again

Although he is still just 20, the long-term future of Jack Clarke doesn’t seem to be at Tottenham at this moment.

This is what former Leeds United striker, Noel Whelan, strongly believes as the Englishman prepares for another loan stint away from the club.

He has already been loaned out three times since he joined the Lilywhites from Leeds United in 2019.

Football London claims that Tottenham will send him out on loan again for the coming campaign if he fails to show enough quality to convince Nuno Espirito Santo in the preseason.

He only just returned from a loan spell having spent the second half of last season on loan at Stoke City.

But he would probably struggle for game time at Tottenham again next season and would need a temporary switch to play more often.

Loan deals are helpful in a player’ development, but Whelan isn’t convinced that Clarke will return to become a regular at Tottenham in the future.

When asked by Football Insider about his thoughts on Clarke’s future, he said: “I’m not sure if he has a future at Tottenham.

“The fact that he keeps getting sent out on loan suggests to me that he doesn’t have a long-term future there. It is a really difficult one.

“He was fantastic for Leeds but you could see that there were a few frailties in his game. The big question was whether he could make that step up to the top flight so early in his career.

“He has loads of talent but sometimes the mental side of the game is more important than a step-over. You need to work tirelessly every day and put yourself in a position where the manager cannot ignore you.

“Another season where the pressure is on. He needs to prove that he is good enough to play for Tottenham.

“Right now is crunch time for him. You cannot keep going out on loan every season.”
