Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a quality central defender when the transfer window reopens in January.

According to the club’s former scout Mick Brown, Spurs are looking to add more cover to that position. Currently, they have Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as the first-choice central defenders at the club. Radu Dragusin is a backup option for them, and it appears that Tottenham are looking for four reliable central defenders to complete their defensive unit.

It will be interesting to see if they can bring in the right additions.

Brown said to Football Insider: “Tottenham worry me defensively.

“They fall down at the fundamentals, they’re just not good enough at the back. That’s even with their first-choice team on the pitch.

“Their strength in depth is an issue too because it makes rotation difficult.

“They’ve got a settled pairing in Romero and Van de Ven, but behind them, they’re short of real quality options and strength in depth.

“From what I’m hearing, they want to bring in someone who can fill in if those two miss out.”

Tottenham have looked vulnerable at the back quite often, especially during injuries and rotation. Having a deeper squad will certainly help them improve. They will look to push for trophies and do well in the league as well.

They need a bigger squad in order to do well across multiple competitions. The January transfer window will be an excellent opportunity for them to address their weaknesses and improve the squad. Bringing in the right additions midway through the season will help them finish the season strongly and have a successful second half of the campaign.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham have a talented squad at their disposal and they will be aiming for a successful season. It will be interesting to see if they can end their wait for a trophy and finish in the Champions League positions.
