Former Tottenham star could be available in January, would Spurs fans want him back?

Luka Modric is one of the players that almost every single Tottenham fan was delighted with when he played for them.

The Croatian also earned the club some good money when he left them to join Real Madrid in 2012.

He has won everything in club football that he could with Real Madrid and he has also won the Ballon’d Or.

At 35, he is no longer guaranteed a starting place in Madrid and he is also in the last year of his current deal at the club.

He was speaking recently about his career and he said that he would like to end his career at the Spanish side.

But the reality is that the Spaniards haven’t shown the willingness to hand him a new deal and that means he can start speaking to new teams in January.

He said as quoted by Mail Online: ‘I feel good, I feel strong, and I still have plenty of football in my legs and strengths to continue, but let’s see what happens in the future.

‘A lot of people are talking and ask about my situation but let’s see what happens. I’m calm. I just want to help the team like always.

‘I’ve said many times and I’ll say it again, I’m very happy at Madrid and I’d love to end my career here, but let’s see what happens.

‘Maybe you thought my answer was a bit cold because I’ve been asked many times and I’ve said the same answer many times. I feel good and I want to stay at Madrid for as long as I feel I can help the team.

‘Who wouldn’t want to end their career at Real Madrid? But it depends on a lot of things. But there is no-one who’d be happier than me to continue at Real Madrid.’

He has earlier said that he is too old to make a Gareth Bale type of return to Tottenham, but would Spurs want him anyway?

Spurs are on the cusp of a new era and the winning mentality and experience that Modric would bring could be invaluable.
