As Tottenham gear up for the upcoming summer transfer window, securing a winger remains a top priority for the North London club.
One of the names that is being linked with a move is emerging talent Jaden Philogene of Hull City.
The attacking sensation has captured the attention of pundits and fans alike with his stellar performances for Hull City in the Championship this season.
Former Tottenham man and BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Alan Hutton has urged Spurs to sign him, emphasising the importance of striking a balance between youthful exuberance and seasoned experience in the squad.
In an interview with Football Insider, Hutton commended Philogene’s outstanding displays, advocating for Tottenham to capitalise on the young forward’s potential.
He said:
“I think you need to look at young and experienced players.
“There has to be a balance.
“He ticks a lot of boxes and I don’t think Villa should have let him go, to be honest.
“His performances have been outstanding, absolutely amazing, so they can look to the future.
“To bring in a young and hungry player who works hard and has the technical ability to fit into their way of thinking is good moving forward.
“But you need to add that quality right now.
“It’s about getting that mixture right.”
Philogene, a former Aston Villa youth player, departed Villa Park last summer for Hull City in a transfer valued at €5.8 million. Notably, Aston Villa inserted a buy-back clause of £15 million, which would be triggered if Hull City secures promotion to the English top flight.
The London-born player’s contract with the Tigers has more than two years remaining, scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2026.
The 22-year-old has showcased impressive form at his new club under manager Liam Rosenior, tallying 14 goal contributions (eight goals and six assists) in 22 appearances in the Championship.
