Former Spurs striker reveals information over the future of Harry Kane

This past summer, it was constant Harry Kane rumors to Manchester City. However, the deal never ended up occurring as the Premier League rival didn’t meet the asking price set by Spurs. As a result, Kane remained, and it appears as though he’s ready to commit long-term.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, former Tottenham striker Darren Bent revealed that he’s hearing rumors that Kane is set to sign a contract extension. In addition, Bent speculated that Manchester City’s decision to let Ferran Torres go has a connection with Kane.

“I heard – and I have to stress it was a rumor – but it’s that he’s potentially gonna stay and sign a new contract there,” Bent said. “And you start thinking, ‘Well, what are Manchester City gonna do now?’

“They’ve let Ferran Torres go, and you think, ‘That’s a bit strange because they’ve not got no center-forwards now.’ Are they making room for Erling Haaland? And that’s potentially why he could stay and sign a new contract?”

Kane has improved under new manager Antonio Conte, scoring three goals in his last three games following a slow start under previous manager Nuno Espírito Santo. Furthermore, appointing a winner like Conte might give Kane the confidence Spurs is heading in the right direction.

Conte has won the Premier League and Serie A, leading clubs like Chelsea, Juventus, and Inter Milan. The Italian tactician has the track record that gives Kane the belief in the project and that the north London club can win some silverware while in his prime years.
