Former Spurs ace hails ‘sensational’ Conte signing who is ‘undroppable’

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has made an impressive start to life at the London club and former goalkeeper Paul Robinson has now heaped praise on the 25-year-old Uruguayan international.

The central midfielder joined Tottenham during the January transfer window and he has managed to adapt to Premier League football quickly. Robinson believes that Bentancur has established himself as a key player for Antonio Conte and his performances have been sensational lately.

Furthermore, the former Tottenham goalkeeper added that the Uruguayan international has managed to make himself undroppable, making it difficult for summer signing Yves Bissouma to get into the starting line-up.

Robinson said to Football Insider: “He has been amazing since he has come in. Him and Kulusevski have been fantastic signings.

“Players take different amounts of time to settle into the Premier League. Bentancur was given a berth in the team early and has since made himself undroppable. He is one of the first names on the team sheet. He has offensive and defensive capabilities.

“The team has improved a lot under Antonio Conte and Bentancur is a big part of that. Everyone thought [Yves] Bissouma would come into the team when Spurs signed him in the summer but Bentancur and [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg have been that good.

“Bentancur is a player that goes under the radar but he’s been sensational. His all-round performance is excellent, it really has.”

Bentancur recently scored for Tottenham against Leicester City and the 25-year-old will be hoping to build on his recent performances.

It seems that Conte has managed to get the best out of the South American midfielder over the last few months and if he can continue to perform at his current level, he could prove to be a great asset for the club in the long run.

The 25-year-old has his peak years ahead of him and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience.
