Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino will return to Tottenham Hotspur sooner rather than later.
The Argentine has been linked with a move back to the London club ever since he left them and it remains to be seen whether Spurs decide to bring him back in the near future.
Antonio Conte has done an exceptional job since taking over as the Tottenham manager but his contract is expiring at the end of the season and the London club have not managed to tie him down to an extension.
There have been rumours that Conte could look to return to Italy and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Bent said on talkSPORT Drive: “That one (Pochettino taking over the Tottenham job) feels almost inevitable.
“I think that one is going to happen, sooner rather than later.”
On the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino is currently without a job and a return to Tottenham could be an attractive option for him.
The 50-year-old Argentine helped them challenge for the Premier League title and the Champions League during his time at the club and he will feel that he has unfinished business at the London club.
Tottenham have an impressive squad at their disposal and Pochettino will have all the tools at his disposal to guide them to trophies if he returns to the club next season.
Ideally, Tottenham will look to hold on to Conte for as long as possible. The Italian is a world-class manager and it would be surprising if he decided to abandon his project at Tottenham midway.
Conte is an ambitious manager who will want to win trophies at the London club and it remains to be seen whether he is prepared to commit his long-term future to the club.
