Former Premier League manager in the hunt for Tottenham vacancy claims journalist

Jack Pitt-Brooke says Roberto Martinez is in the running to become the next Tottenham manager.

Spurs fired Jose Mourinho last week and made Ryan Mason their interim manager until the end of the season.

The Lilywhites are expected to name a new manager within the next few weeks.

Several names have been linked with the job and Pitt-Brooke has now added Martinez to the mix and claims that he would love the former Wigan and current Belgium boss to get the job.

He admits that Martinez is currently attached to the Belgian national team but says he might fancy a return to club football at the end of the Euros later in the year.

He also believes that Martinez’s track record with young players makes him a candidate that Spurs should really consider making their next boss.

“Roberto Martinez is a name that I’ve heard in connection with this job. Of course, he’s the manager of Belgium at the moment, but I imagine he’d fancy a return to club football after the Euros,” Pitt-Brooke said on the Ornstein & Chapman Podcast.

“I’m a big fan of Martinez, I think he’d do a really good job, he plays football the right way and he seems to have a decent track record with young players, so in that sense I think he’d tick all of the boxes, but I’m not sure all Spurs fans would agree with me.”

Having made Mourinho their manager and still not ended their trophy drought, Spurs will hope their next appointee finally brings success to the club.
