Former player says ‘it’s going to be difficult’ for Conte signing to get into Spurs XI

Tottenham Hotspur completed the £60 million signing of Richarlison from Everton football club earlier on in the summer.

The 25-year-old has proven himself in the Premier League with the likes of Watford and Everton over the last few seasons and he should prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for the London club.

Spurs were heavily reliant on the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min over the last few seasons and Antonio Conte needed to add more depth to his attacking department. Richarlison is likely to improve the London club in the final third and his versatility could make him an asset for Conte going forward.

However, former defender Alan Hutton believes Tottenham have a set front three of Kane, Son and Dejan Kulusevski for now and the Brazilian attacker will have to work hard to break into the starting line-up.

He said to Football Insider: “Kulsevski came in last season so he’s already into Antonio Conte’s ways, he knows how to play the system. Kulusevksi is a talented young player, if he sticks to that form I think Richarlison is going to have to wait.

I think it’s going to be difficult and he’s going to have to prove his worth by coming on as a sub. I think at the moment that’s the strongest front three for Tottenham.

For now, Richarlison will have to be content with the role of a squad player and he will have to make an impact as a substitute and convince the Italian manager that he is ready to start regularly for his side.

Richarlison is well settled in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether he can make an immediate impact at his new club and cement himself as a key first-team player now.
