Former PL club owner slams poor decision from Daniel Levy

By Saikat -

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has hit out at Daniel Levy for some of his decisions over the years.

The Tottenham chairman has been heavily criticised in recent seasons because of his decisions and the lack of investment compared to Spurs’ rivals.

Jordan believes that Levy’s decision to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as the manager of Tottenham was ridiculous and he has not managed to keep Spurs competitive compared to their rivals in the league.

However, Jordan added that Levy is a superb businessman.

Jordan told talkSPORT: “The bottom line is that Daniel Levy could do more, when you compare him to the ownership models of other clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle, he’ll wither and die on the vine.

“I’ve criticised Daniel repeatedly, I thought it was a ridiculous decision to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo, but I also think he is a very good businessman.”

The Tottenham chairman has been criticised by the fans as well for prioritising the club’s financial interests above their footballing interests.

Although Tottenham have been quite supportive of manager Antonio Conte in the transfer market, they have failed to strengthen the squad completely in the recent windows and Spurs are struggling to challenge for trophies as a result of that.

Furthermore, Levy has not managed to convince Conte to sign an extension. It will be interesting to see if he can keep the Italian manager at the club beyond this season.

Conte’s departure will come as a major blow for Tottenham and they might struggle to bring in a world-class manager like him next season.

Despite having a number of talented players at their disposal, Tottenham have often fallen short of delivering trophies and Levy has shown a lack of willingness to go the distance in order to bring silverware to the club.

It Is clear that the Spurs squad is in need of investment and they will have to be more ambitious in the transfer market if they want to hold on to top-class managers like Antonio Conte and players like Harry Kane.
