Former Arsenal striker states signing Milan midfielder would mark the end of Harry Winks at Spurs

The January transfer window is about to open, meaning Tottenham Hotspur can pursue AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié. The north London club has been linked to the 25-year-old whose contract expires in June.

As a result, the Ivory Coast international can sign a pre-contract that will kick in next season. Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell spoke with Football Insiderwhere he stated that if Spurs were to land Kessié, it would spell the end of Harry Winks.

Furthermore, Campbell states that pursuing the midfielder is a no-brainer considering Kessié would arrive on a free transfer. All Tottenham would have to worry about is meeting his salary demands.

“If they sign Kessie, that’s the end of the road for Harry Winks,” Campbell said. “I think Kessie, on a free transfer, it’s an absolute no-brainer – that’s an exciting prospect for Tottenham. He’s a great player; I love him.”

“But if they bring him in, you just can’t see where Winks fits into that side unless he’s content being a squad player. But I think it’s time for him to move on if he can’t get that first-team spot nailed down.”

Kessié will be playing in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, so for any Tottenham who hasn’t seen much of the midfielder, it presents an opportunity to see his talents with the Ivory Coast.

This season, the Milan midfielder has made 21 appearances, scoring five goals and registering one assist.
