Forget the big names, Tottenham are targeting three lower-profile signings this summer

There has been quite a bit of speculation about players supposedly wanted by Tottenham and some of them, like Philippe Coutinho, have been high profile individuals, however, according to Football London, Spurs have set their sights on three players specifically and none of them is what one would describe as high profile.

Jose Mourinho is looking to fill specific positions in his squad and not sign players for the sake of it, so forget about Gareth Bale, Coutinho, Ivan Perisic and so on, they are not the type of player that the Portuguese is after.

Tottenham need a versatile midfielder, a right-back and a backup striker to fill in glaring holes in the team.

Yes, they also need to upgrade some positions but the finances are not there right now to do that and therefore Mourinho is concentrating on the biggest weaknesses in the team.

The versatile midfielder that Spurs want is Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The right-back is Norwich City’s Max Aarons and the back-up striker is Bournemouth’s, Callum Wilson.

It is not going to be straightforward to land all three but it is rather obvious from the amount of media coverage that the three named players are the priority for Mourinho and Tottenham.

There will be many rumours over the next couple of months with some outrageous claims made but Hojbjerg, Aarons and Wilson are the most likely signings according to the majority of reports from both credible and not so credible outlets.

One thing is for sure, there will not be any mega big-name signings.
