“For many, many reasons it’s not happened” Sky Pundit Believes Levy Could Still Get Top Dollar For This 26-year-old

Many people scoffed at the £200m price tag Daniel Levy has supposedly put on the head of Harry Kane, including some of his adoring Tottenham fans.

But Sky Sports pundit Tony Cottee says that the 26-year-old striker is worth a world-record fee “all day long”, if we are forced into selling him, whether due to player or financial pressure. The report in the Daily Mail earlier this week claimed the club’s stadium and transfer debt is in excess of £700m, while Kane recently admitted in an Instagram Live interview with Jamie Redknapp that he’ll go elsewhere to fulfil his trophy ambitions if needs be.

Former Everton and West Ham United forward Cottee feels it is “inevitable” that Kane will leave Spurs and predicts it could happen next summer.

“I think there will come a time when he says ‘I’ve done as much as I can, I’ve scored lots of goals for Spurs but for many, many reasons it’s not happened’,” Cottee told Sky Sports. I think it’s inevitable, if it doesn’t happen in the next year or so, I think Harry will leave – probably next summer.”

He added: “We saw (Kylian) Mbappe and Neymar go for huge amounts of money. Is Harry Kane worth that? Yes he is, he’s a goalscorer.

“In the current market, if other players are worth what they paid for them, then Harry Kane, for me, is worth £200m all day long.”

Cottee’s opinion does not carry much weight on this platform, but it does serve as a reminder of how highly valued Kane is within the game, and that Levy’s price tag might not be as deluded as some Twitter experts think.
