Fernandes Abuse Way Off Beam: Stats prove Mourinho’s a far better judge of players than many fans are

As per this recent post, a good sway of fans were less than impressed with Gedson Fernandes’ performance against the mighty Birmingham City. I take a view that the vitriol meted out on social media can often tell us more about the folk screaming the contempt, than their actual targets.

What caused the abuse? Perhaps it was confusion sparked by the roaming remit that the Portuguese was given, by his coach. During the 90minutes that Gedson was on the park, he played in three different positions; Attacking Midfield, Left Defensive Midfield, and even Right Defensive Midfield.

What is for certain, it wasn’t the boy’s play. A fella’s passing accuracy is a fundamental indication of their usefulness in a team. Of course, if that’s all they can do, then that’s a problem.

Elsewhere, there’s a whole heap of other positives from the Birmingham City game which cast further doubts over the discontent of some fans. This boy knows how to move the ball.

Gedson also dribbling against Reading (for those that might have forgotten). But what does the boy’s future hold? My pfennigs are on José Mourinho doing what he does best.

Stay tuned, and respect how the lad came here.
