“Fans will ask questions” Pundit Insists Pressure Is Starting To Pile Up On Levy

Danny Mills has insisted that unless Tottenham increase their spending, chairman Daniel Levy will leave himself open to further criticism.

Under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs become a perennial top-four side in the Premier League and threatened to compete for major trophies.

That cycle under the Argentine coach came to an end in November as he was replaced by Jose Mourinho, although having crashed out of the FA Cup and Champions League while staring up at a gap to the top four this season, Tottenham have fallen off the pace.

As per the club’s official site, healthy revenues and profit were recorded albeit with debts still owed too, and while Mills has praised Levy for the way in which he has handled the financial side of the club, he believes he must increase spending on the playing squad.

“It is easy to say they have made a lot of money but they still have to pay the stadium off,” he told Football Insider.

“They have not really made that much money. Where has all that money gone? If you have all of that money why are they not spending it on transfers and the squad? Why did they not give it to Mauricio Pochettino?

“Yes, Levy has done well in getting Tottenham to where they are financially but if they do not now spend, the fans will ask questions. They will want it invested in the team. There is another side, that is for sure. The fans will definitely be frustrated.”

As per BBC Sport, Mourinho has already hinted that he needs a more balanced squad next season, but time will tell if he is given the necessary funds to bring in the players that he believes will help improve his side.
