“fans love him” – Alasdair Gold claims 57-year-old fan favourite is someone Spurs have “definitely” looked at

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been considering Ange Postecoglou, the current manager of Celtic, as a potential candidate to fill their vacant managerial position.

Alasdair Gold revealed in the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that he is someone Spurs have “definitely” looked at.

Gold spoke highly of his credentials and that Celtic fans love him for what he has achieved but admitted that he would be a risky appointment.

Gold agreed that it was unlikely to happen, but noted that the Celtic boss was someone that Tottenham have considered.

He said:

“Someone I like. But I can’t see it happening because it may be too much of a risk, but Postecoglou at Celtic. Celtic fans love him.”

“He’s definitely someone they’ve (Spurs) looked at.”

“It’s the same with Vincent Kompany who is doing a wonderful job at Burnley right now.”

Postecoglou has been in charge of Celtic since June 2021 and has won three titles already (Scottish League x1, Scottish League Cup x2)

He has also managed the Australian national team and clubs in Japan and Australia.

Tottenham are also strongly linked with other high-profile managers, including Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann, and Luis Enrique.

According to Football Insider, Enrique was in London on Thursday to hold talks with Spurs.

Despite the competition, Postecoglou’s success with Celtic and his international experience may make him an attractive option for the North London club.

However, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will take a gamble on him or opt for a more established name.

The search for a new manager at Tottenham follows the sacking of Antonio Conte.

The Italian was let go after a public outburst post Southampton draw where he aimed jibes at Tottenham players and the club hierarchy.
