Fabrizio Romano believes Tottenham will push for a new centre-back in the summer.
While Ange Postecoglou’s team are focused on finishing the season in the best possible way, people at the North London club have already started to plan for the summer. They are looking at ways to further bolster their squad to provide the Australian boss with enough firepower to challenge the best teams in the country.
Spurs have been linked with multiple forwards and midfielders in the recent past but according to Fabrizio Romano, the North London club will also look to add a new centre-back to their ranks before next season.
Romano via GiveMeSport: “I think yes, I think it’s a possibility for Tottenham to move on different positions. Centre-back is a possibility.
“Midfield is something that they want to cover in the summer transfer window also, because the expectation is for [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg to leave the club with one year left on his contract. So the idea is for Tottenham to do something in that position, then there is a top talent like Bergvall coming in.”
Since taking charge of the club, Postecoglou has brought in multiple signings in the heart of the defence. Micky van de Ven joined the club in the summer while Radu Drăgușin was added to the team in the winter transfer window.
Despite having signed two top-quality central defenders in the last 12 months, the North London club could still look for another defender in the summer. The Australian manager seeks more depth in that part of the pitch and they have already been linked with multiple top-quality centre-backs.
Tottenham are thought to be looking at the free agent market to improve their squad while keeping their spending in check. Luton Town’s Gabriel Osho and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo are two of the names linked with Spurs. With their contracts running out at the end of the season, they could be bargain additions.
