Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the United States international Weston McKennie.
However, Fabrízio Romano has now confirmed that Tottenham not working to sign the 25-year-old midfielder this summer. Instead, Aston Villa are in talks with Juventus to sign the player. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can bring in a quality central midfielder before the summer transfer window closes. It is no surprise that they are being linked with players like McKennie. They need more depth and quality in the middle of the park.
They could use a creative central midfielder who will add goals and assists to the side. Tottenham have a quality squad, but they need to bring in the right additions if they want to push for major trophies. They are certainly not at the level of Arsenal or Manchester City yet.
Signing a quality central level will certainly help them improve. The North London outfit brought in some exciting players last season and it remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy is willing to back the manager once again this summer. Apart from the midfield, Tottenham should look to bring in a quality goalscorer and a reliable central defender as well.
They missed out on Champions League qualification last season and they will be desperate to get back into the premier European competition as soon as possible. They will be competing in the UEFA Europa League next season and it remains to be seen whether they can finish in the top four and push for trophies.
