Fabrizio Romano: Celtic In Talks With Spurs

link

Joe Hart to Celtic sounds about right. The former Manchester City ace certainly looked a lot better than he turned out to be in reality. Used sparingly, the 34-year-old proved to be less than wholly reliable in Europa League games. To, which end perhaps, Hart never featured in a single Premier League game during his time at Tottenham.

This would be more money off the squad’s wages, which is a good thing, but what is crucial here is that we get new blood in, not specifically a goalkeeper, but this will not happen unless we can meet the valuations of the market for new players.

Spurs are way behind in transfer activity as usual, and to date, we have taken in a 20-year-old as part of a swap deal and signed backup goalkeeper on a loan deal – a deal which includes a caveat that the boy has to feature in so many games.

Triffic.

At least ENIC plundering the team annualy is an ethos.

Touché. I’m known to occasionally verge into downright malevolent nihilism. What can I say? ENIC does that to a man 🙂

Hmm, is that what you call kind nihilism? 🙂

More like this:

Celtic FC: We’re interested in Joe Hart
ENIC FC: Yeah, and I fantasize with being anally raped by a gorilla. This is a prank call, right?

If Dier was considered home grown then I would argue he could take a squad place, but as he isn’t, he can go as well.

Maybe the Knicks and Spurs could be twinned both trophy less for years now. Though I know the Knicks had a good run last season and things seem to be looking up. Delighted to see The Nets flop as a Celtics fan.

Here is a quote from Jim Dolan, owner of Madison Sqaure Garden and my beloved New York Knicks, “Basketball is 3% of our business”. Pin that same quote on the donkey, What is Spurs worth to the conglomerate of Lewis, Enic and Levy?

Would they like Dier, Winks and Sissoko as well? I’m sure we could do a special deal for buy 3 and get one free. In the SPL they might even look half decent.

Zero budget is a bit of an exaggeration. There are some coins and fluff in Levy’s pocket he can play with.

What about Dier? He should’ve been first out the door.

We won’t get Romero. When a transfer deal takes this long, it normally doesn’t happen. I suspect Zouma or Vestergaard are nearer the mark. I am sure that Paratici wants Romero but Mourinho wanted Ruben Dias and we ended up buying Rodon. For all Paratici’s good intentions, Levy still makes the final decision as he holds the purse strings. He just doesn’t understand that good players require a premium as BaleUsOut referenced below. Levy shops in Poundland as he thinks because he is buying cheaply, he’s got a bargain which is the reverse of our competitors who shop in Harrods or Selfridges. Plus ca change!

I know Celtic are desperate for a goalkeeper but this makes no sense for them.

Getting Hart out is good. But we still need to step it up – Sissoko, Aurier, at least one of Dier/Sanchez, and Winks should all go. In with Romero, the Japanese chap and Sabitzer (if he indeed is available at a reduced price). No more ordering players off Wish.

Interestingly, Utd are buying Sancho and Varane (over 110M for the pair) – plus they’re looking at Trippier. Chelsea are probably getting in Koundé, having won the CL. Arsenal will finalise Ben White for 50M. Don’t they know clubs don’t have money post-COVID?

If our neighbours can pay 50M pounds for a Brighton defender (Brighton finished 16th), can’t we really pay 50M Euro – or thereabouts – for the best defender in Serie A last year who might make all the difference to our defence?

Oh Harry, I pray we sign this chap from Japan just to see you manfully struggle to pronounce his name. The expression on your face is reminiscent to the one of confusion and shear bewilderment on my Grandad’s when I tried to explain decimalisation to him back in the 70s :-))))

Now for my challenge; whenever you next pronounce a foreign name please do it in the same accent and style as someone from that country but with ample warning so we have a chance to put our beers down – I thank you.

Levy doesn’t seem to appreciate that for top players like Romero you need to pay a premium. Here’s a thought Levy, instead of paying yourself a massive bonus put it towards that premium you …….

At the very least Paratici appears to be a man who has the understanding & ethic to get things done despite the handicaps of timescale and budget that ENIC have imposed upon him. What he has done in under a month seems commendable enough and inspires confidence that there is more to come. We wanna see those CB replacements before getting carried away though!

Maybe we have a DOF that actually enjoys the transfer window and doing the job he was employed for?

Ahem Mr Hitchen take note.

Paritici can negotiate all he wants for many players but I don’t see things being finalised until more players are out of the door. Sissoko, Aurier, Carter-Vickers, Joe Hart are the obvious ones to move on but there are others as well. Running out of time….. tick tock, tick tock….

I thought he was brought in to coach if honest. This jsut looks like a sweeping of the decks. I am wondering what our squad will be soon. Still find it funny, 2 really goo dmanagers get no support or backing. One average one seems to get it all.

Paratici perhaps has come to challenge himself to see what he can do with zero budget? 🤔
