Extensive video analysis of Harry Kane’s rollercoaster role in Spurs victory

By The Boy -

Kane told the press after the game that it had been an emotional rollercoaster at the King Power stadium. A significant part of Tottenham’s upswing in fortunes was the England skipper himself.

Kane’s heat map vs Foxes

The goal was Kane back to his old form, level-headed and precise.

xG

Harry’s expected goal ratio was its highest since 15.11.2021 when he was involved in the infamous San Marino 0 England 10 game.

A shot assist.

Kane made 8 successful dribbles – here’s 3 of them.

3 Progressive runs

And finally, that exquisite ball into Steven Bergwjin…

Conte has definitely got into Davinson’s head. He is making less errors and is a big threat from set pieces in the opposition box. He has two goals this season and really should have scored at Leicester with an effort at the far post.

Having scored 1 league goal in the previous 4 seasons to scoring 2 in half a season tells you something. Conte is giving Sanchez instructions, which he is following, and he is improving. It’s the same with Winks and the others.

Who would have thought that Spurs would be a threat from set piece free kicks and corners delivered by Harry Winks and regularly finished off by Davinson Sanchez before conte arrived?

Are you implying the EPL is ‘fixed’? I may be reading more into this than you intended but is that what you mean?

I get close to kicking my television everytime Davies does a back pass and points to a forward pass for the person he passed to ,to pass the ball forward

He is one if the best keepers in the world. He was mentioned by every pundit as being one of the only few world class footballers at spurs. Every manager that comes rates him.Every opposing fan rate him.

Hugo”s distribution isn’t great but he’s still one of the top five in the league and has won a World Cup. Pleased he’s extended, I don’t see another keeper that Levy would cough up for that’s any better either!

Yep, he’s more like Teddy or Keano than an out and out striker.

If true Levy’s taking the p*ss as usual. Go and find another 10m in the duffel bag rather than take it to the Bahamas and you might get the deal done this side of Christmas…

Why are we offering 15m for Traore when we spent 22m on Royal, you would expect steroid man to be a better option, as well as proven in the division. Transfermarkt has his value down as £25m!

same old low balling crap as usual…

So another 2 years of being nervous every time the keeper has the ball at his feet but beggars can’t be choosers and he’s better than GOALini.

Leicester have been incompetent in defence all season, and for a “script” or whatever you might call it, Bergwijn had a lot to do for his second goal, having to beat the keeper and avoid hitting Soyuncu.

An inch to the left, and it wouldn’t have gone in.

Went to work at 1-1 and was surprised when someone told me the final score. Really pleased for Burg Wine, I like the lad, and would like to see more of him.

I was intrigued to see how it would play out as the Bt sport commentator literally called it a couple of times in the last 20 mins. I was beginning to doubt on 94 mins , but its good to know we are still in the club. I’m still ploughing through the numbers, lots of naughty ones so far

I’m enjoying the Conte effect. I see a clear plan. intensity and a collective belief. And I haven’t shouted at Ben Davies for a while, his new role and execution of it is most pleasing

Prem going down the NFL “insane ending” route sadly. Watched the goals, seriously 2 in 95th minute?? These are supposed to be top flight defenders…..Leicester were a farce especially for the winner, really? What are they up too? Look at the line,( I say line) of 3 before the ball breaks. Ridiculous. Ratings first I suppose….

Well said and bang on regarding Kane and the free kicks. Why is he still taking them?? Great penalty taker but dead ball situations from outside the box are awful, he rarely ever troubles the keeper. I don’t understand why someone hasn’t once suggested a teammate roll the ball to him from a direct free kick and let him smash a moving ball instead 🤷🏽‍♂️

Sanchez has improved under Conte, but he was in no mans land in the build up to their second goal. I feel for him at times because you can see he is the type of player who puts everything he’s got into trying to do well, but we need an upgrade if we are serious about challenging for honours anytime soon.

Looked to me like he found an extra half yard of pace as well – albeit Leicester are not blessed with speed in central defence.

Kane was great, happy and very energetic and scored his 250 goal in the PL and 18th vs Leicester team more than any other team in the PL last night. actually the whole team looked fresh and fit. history was made the greatest come back ever in the premier league it reminded me also the champions league game vs Ajax like Lucas Moura night, last night was Steven wonderful Bergwijn night it was happy night all around. I like Conte and his winning mentality he changed 3 times the system during the game that is how you know a great manager and a winner. now the real question remains will egomaniac Baldy back him or he would shatter this great manager’s integrity and reputation like he done to a dozen managers before him wait and see 13 days and counting.

It fascinates me watching players who play with just one thought – we must score a goal – their body language, stature and way they play changes completely. Doherty looked like a man on a mission last night – never really seen that from him before in a Spurs shirt. Where did it come from – IMHO it came form an attitude of ‘screw it’ I’m giving this my all. Even his left footed shot that went wide was hit cleanly and with positive intent (rather than a half-hearted hit and hope)
Why don’t players perform with that attitude more often?

His transition from the best goalscorer in the league to also the best creator is quite something. I felt he almost toyed with the defenders at times the way he glided past their slide tackles.

One could compare that to Dele, who, in his seventh full season at Spurs, still hasn’t learned to kick a ball with his left foot.

I almost think that Kane is wasted as an out and out striker nowadays. He is such a good footballer and his vision, awareness and passing ability would be better exploited if he played in a deeper role.

Agree with much of what you say, but Sanchez got done one too many times last night, and 99 out of 100 games, his rashness and proclivity to spinning around in our area to no good purpose would have cost us points.

Sanchez has improved, but he’s not completely trustworthy.

Tanganga didn’t cover himself in glory either, I felt, and he’s quickly losing any interest I used to have in him.

Hojbjerg and Skipp deserve a mention. We need to keep them as long as possible.

So happy about last night’s win and performance. It was just what we needed. Some of these players are proving they may be good enough after all in some of these games. The general improvement in players like Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies, Lucas Moura and Eric Dier is changing the reality of the situation on a consistent basis.

These players have been reliable for sustained periods and played well in the past but have been consistently poor for 2 years under Poch, Jose and Nuno before Conte arrived. Sanchez in particular has really surprised me. He went to pieces under Jose but actually looks decent under Conte. He is contributing at the back and chipping in with goals from set pieces now too.

I have never doubted Ben Davies. Davies is not a great player but he has always been a solid, steady and reliable defender. He does have some bad games but I don’t think Davies has ever had the amount of back to back bad games, or made the quantity of errors, as Dier and Sanchez did under Poch, Jose and Nuno. He has found his best position on the left of a back three and he is taking the chance Conte has given him.

After last nights game I also have to do something which I never thought it would be possible for me to do. Harry Winks has done enough in recent games for me to give him some credit. You have no idea how hard it is for me to type these words. Winks has been taking corners on the left side and swinging them in close to the keeper. They are a real threat and it beggars belief that his free kick and corner taking ability appears to be something that has been overlooked since he first came into the team.

I have to admit that having seen Winks delivery of set pieces, in several recent games, he is the best Spurs have at the current time but; more than that, he probably has deserved the opportunities Conte has given him. I balance this against the fact that his best games have come against Liverpool, who had a makeshift midfield and Leicester last night who were in a similar pickle. However; he also did play particularly well against Southampton despite Spurs having no luck on the night with VAR or the ref.

Could we do worse than let Winks take the direct free kicks in and around the opposition penalty area? I don’t want to see Kane taking one more of them.
