Expert believes Amanda Staveley’s relationship with Levy would not be easy amid investment reports

Amanda Staveley is being rumoured to be interested in investing in Tottenham.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has provided insights on this emerging interest from the former Newcastle director, suggesting that a £500 million investment could secure a 10-15% stake in Spurs for Staveley.

Speaking on the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness emphasised that while this investment is substantial, it may not grant Staveley much influence over Spurs’ operations due to Chairman Daniel Levy’s firm control.

Staveley, who was previously a board member at Newcastle United, is now exploring new opportunities in football. She was instrumental in the Saudi consortium’s takeover of Newcastle in October 2021 and has since raised considerable funds for further investments in football clubs.

Wyness pointed out that Tottenham presents a promising investment opportunity for Staveley, who seems to have developed a keen interest in football management and ownership.

He suggested that her experience at Newcastle has sparked a passion for the sport, motivating her to seek new ventures within the Premier League.

Staveley’s established contacts and experience in football could add significant value, even though influencing the well-established operations at Spurs might be challenging due to Levy’s strong leadership.

Keith Wyness said (via Football Insider) +:

“I was slightly surprised to see this news.

“Amanda has gotten together with some other investors to raise £500million, which could be a level where she could get a minority stake in Spurs.

“She’d be looking at 10-15% for that figure.

“Daniel Levy is valuing the club very highly, so £500million doesn’t get you a lot.

“But Amanda has been bitten by the football bug, she obviously really enjoyed her time at Newcastle – and I think she did a great job.

“She’s now got the contacts in football and wants to stay in it.

“I think Spurs is a great potential investment, even if the valuation is too high.

“She may find that dealing with Levy isn’t quite as easy. I don’t think she’ll have much of an input.”

The British business executive’s potential investment could provide the financial boost needed to enhance the club’s competitiveness and infrastructure.

This move is seen as a strategic step forward for Spurs, potentially bringing in new resources and expertise to help the club achieve its long-term goals.
