‘Exciting times’ Former EPL gaffer coos over Spurs summer transfer activity

Tottenham Hotspur made a massive addition this past week, agreeing to a £50 million transfer (£10 million in add-ons) deal that sent Everton striker Richarlison to the north London club.

In an interview with Football Insiderformer Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish spoke about Spurs’ latest arrival and stated that he’s a major fan of the addition. Furthermore, he adds that manager Antonio Conte has his squad closer to ending their trophy drought.

McLeish says that the Italian boss has changed the perception of Tottenham league-wide, and now some see them as a serious threat to win silverware next season.

“It’s great that Conte has come along and changed the perception of Tottenham again,” McLeish said. “His signings have been great. Richarlison, on paper, looks a fantastic signing. You just imagine a threesome up there with him, Kane, and someone else on the other side.”

“It’s exciting times for Tottenham. It’s been a long time since Daniel [Levy] splashed out money like that. A bit of silverware would be a godsend for Tottenham fans, and this is another signing that gets them closer to that.”

Despite the additions this summer, Spurs aren’t done conducting business. Not only do they have to offload players who aren’t in the plans, they still have to address the backline, and a right wing-back position before the transfer window closes.

Many will be monitoring how Tottenham does this upcoming season to see if these moves pay off and see them win silverware, whether it’s domestically or internationally.
