Ex-Spurs club chief Frank Arnesen praises Daniel Levy for how he trusts execs, managers

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has received a lot of criticism this week from former Spurs defender Kieran Trippier and Arsenal Martin Keown. Nonetheless, former Spurs director of football Frank Arnesen did talk about some of the positives when it comes to Levy.

After seeing key attacking targets, Luis Diaz and Adama Traore chose Liverpool and Barcelona, respectively, so it was a shot to the club’s project. Arnesen, Tottenham’s director of football between 2004 and 2005, states that Levy does not know the game of football.

However, Arnesen says Levy is very good at delegating to his sporting director or coach about football matters.

“You also have clubs where there are owners who are very hands-on, and they want to do the negotiations, like Tottenham. Daniel does it himself and is very good at it,” Arnesen told The Athletic

“But he has no understanding about the football game and doesn’t interfere if you want a left-back or a right-winger. He trusts his manager and the sporting director to do that work.”

Despite the praise from Arnesen, there will be plenty of critics when it comes to Levy. This transfer window hasn’t gone as planned, and if they don’t commit financially to backing manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian tactician could depart as he did this past summer when he left Inter Milan after they decided to cut back wages.

It’s usually a click-bait site quoting a social media comment by some muppet (or someone in their office). But still… 😂

All that tells you is that Levy knows fack all about football but signs the cheques, yet what it omits is the size of the cheques he’s prepared to write or the criteria or brief he gives those he ‘delegates’.

100% a desperate attempt to deflect criticism away from Levy. What it confirms is that it was he who negotiated the failed Diaz deal. So ‘“he’s really good at it”? What when the selling club are desperate and there’s nobody else serous trying to land the player? Even I could do that.

Porto have financial problems, so Levy thinks “perfect, I can call the shots here” then another serious party comes in and he’s out. What else was going to happen? 😂

Levy is a pathetic negotiator, he just plays hardball when the selling club are under pressure and he’s the only buyer in the picture. This gets hyped as him being a ‘great’ transfer negotiator, in what context exactly?

Makes sense, but Count Dracula, also known as Daniel Levy, is incapable of change. It’s groundhog day

I think Lewis would want to know why stadium income had suddenly fallen off a cliff.

All they have to do is open up an account solely for transfers. Levy could put the max amount he wants to spend into that account each window. It could be topped up with any sales of course. The pot should include transfers and wages.
He should then completely back off and allow Paratici complete control of those funds. So Paratici could spend those funds as he sees fit, without any involvement from baldy. In fact baldy should bugger off to the Bahamas for the duration of the window.
Levy said he would take a step back from transfers, he hasn’t as all the low balling offers in this window proves. He lied again.

If a significant proportion of Spurs fans stopped going to matches and buying Merch that would undoubtedly achieve results. The only language Levy understands is money. I’d like to see him try and explain to his boss why takings have suddenly plummeted.
There’s not a lot of point coming on here and slagging Levy and enic off is you’re financially subsidising them is there?

It’s been stated on this site countless times that the only effective way of removing ENIC/Levy is to stop spending the money at the stadium on merchandise and food and drink. Also people need to stop renewing STs,so no doubt there will be a raft of improbable transfers prior to the next renewal date.Until then everything stays the same.

Totally agree…We have to find a way to get Enic out!!
We are never going to be able to progress whilst their running OUR club !!
We can’t carry on living in hope …action needs to be taken to get them OUT!!!

Levy got lucky with Poch and having one of world’s best strikers in our ranks at the same time. Enic have done nothing for Spurs except create a successful property company. We are a joke football club and until big Joe and little dan fuck off nothing will ever change. The only chance we have is that conte walks out, mason takes us down, fans stop going and then maybe the football club thieves will sell for a reasonable price. We can only hope….
