Ex-manager task Spurs backroom staff to work on Ndombele after his dreadful stats are revealed

Tanguy Ndombele is one of the most talented players at Tottenham, but the Frenchman incredibly lacks the stamina to be at his maximum best for the full 90 minutes.

The midfielder struggled to get into the Tottenham team at the start of this season and that is exactly what happened at the beginning of the last campaign.

Tottenham struggled for creativity and Nuno Espirito Santo brought him back into the team.

He is one of the most exciting players to watch at the start of Tottenham games, but his influence fades in the second half.

Whoscored revealed that the midfielder’s performance dropped in the second half of their game against Wolves in midweek.

He went from making the most touches by any player in the first half (64) to making a lot less in the second half (23).

He also made just 12 passes in the second half after making 42 before the break.

His second-half numbers are terrible and former Scotland manager, McLeish says Spurs have to work on him to remain active for a longer period on the pitch.

He told Football Insider: “If those are the stats then people will pick the bones out of that and say he needs to be more fit.

“I don’t know the way he works, the kind of level, that’s for the sports science team.

“They have to get him to a level where if he’s going to produce statistics like that in the first half, the manager will be wanting that for the whole game.

“You can’t say: ‘I’ve got this guy for 45 minutes and then I’m going to take him off because he doesn’t run about in the second half.’

“That is for the sports science guys to get him to a level of fitness where you’re getting top drawer, 90-minute performances.”
