There are only a handful of days until the January transfer window closes, and Tottenham Hotspur has yet to make a move to improve the squad. Furthermore, there are reports, whether accurate or inaccurate, questioning the future of Antonio Conte with the north London club.

When asked about the future of the Italian tactician with Spurs, former English footballer Kevin Phillips provided his thoughts regarding the situation with Conte and whether he’d leave the Premier League club.

“He’s only just come through the door so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about at this stage,” Phillips told Football Insider“Naturally, he will be a bit frustrated because there has not been the movement he would have liked.”

You can tell by his actions on the touchline that he is a very passionate and perhaps impatient guy. He will want players through the door as early as possible so he can get the best out of them. There is likely some uncomfortable conversations going on in the background, but he won’t let it effect what he is trying to do.”

If Tottenham isn’t willing to make the financial commitment that Conte requires, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave. Furthermore, the Spurs manager hasn’t put out the flames to any talk about departing.

After winning the Serie A title last season, Conte departed when the club reportedly decided to cut player salary, leading to the sales of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

In Conte’s eyes, Spurs will need to begin holding their end of the bargain, or they could be searching for their third manager in less than a year if the 52-year-old walks away.
