Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga is expected to join the Italian club Torino.
A report from Calciomercato. It claims that the Italian club have now ‘found an agreement’ with the Premier League club regarding a move for the 24-year-old central defender.
Tanganga has struggled for regular game time at Tottenham and it makes sense for him to leave the club in search of first-team action.
The 24-year-old was highly rated at Spurs when he came through the ranks under Jose Mourinho.
The versatile defender is capable of operating as the right-back as well as a central defender. He was expected to develop into a key player for the North London outfit, but he has struggled to cement his place in the starting lineup in recent seasons.
Tanganga is at the stage of his career where he needs regular, first-team action in order to continue his development and Torino will be able to provide him with the platform he needs.
The Italian outfit will sign the player on loan with the option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.
Apparently, clubs like Luton Town and Everton were keen on signing the player as well but Tanganga has prioritised a move to Italian football ahead of the two English clubs.
A deal is now close to completion and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can formalise an agreement soon.
The 24-year-old will look to get his career back on track with regular game time and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact in Italian football.
